Inevitable You-Know-Who Thread

My best guess is that he either doesn’t publish his book at all or takes out all the damning material. Bolton is just like the rest: scared shitless of Trump and his base and unwilling to forego future power/money to take him on.

So with Trump’s inevitable acquittal this afternoon or this evening, it will have been established that he can do whatever he wants to win re-election because he believes his re-election is in the best interests of the country (this per Dershowitz’ statements during the trial).

So, what if he has the Democratic nominee arrested and detained by the CIA for the last week(s) of the campaign? Or has Putin poison them with Polomium-210? Or just pulls out a gun and shoots them in the middle of 5th Avenue?

All perfectly good right?

Meanwhile, the drip feed of damning revelations continues, with the NYT reporting that Cipollone - who is currently defending Trump against charges that he ordered the squeeze on Ukraine - was in the room when Trump ordered the squeeze on Ukraine. In the room with Bolton.

It’s not just that these guys are both judge and jury, they’re judge, jury, witness and defendant!

Murkowski is a ‘no’ on witnesses.

Murkowski a “no” on witnesses, so that’s that then. Only thing not known at this point is whether they acquit tonight or if the trial drags on into next week to allow for closing arguments.

Now that nothing in the trial matters anymore, if I were Schiff, I’d spend every available second at the podium excoriating the Senate Republicans to their fucking faces.

Rubio’s statement (seriously):

“Just because actions meet a standard of impeachment does not mean it is in the best interest of the country to remove a President from office”

Not that it’s news, but in a sea full of spineless jellyfish, he’s is extraordinarily slimy, spineless motherfuckering chickenshit.

It’s really hard sometimes to figure out which of them is the most worthless. Basically, it’s the last one to open their trap.

In case you wanted to be distracted from impeachment, don’t overlook the fact that Brexit happened today.

With the UK out of the EU, Trump will start extorting favors from BoJo in 3…2…

No need for elections! Saves the tax payers a lot of time going to the polls and saves money. No need to worry about people voting that shouldn’t. No need to gerrymander anymore. I could go on and on and on…

She proved to be the vote that kept it from being a 50-50 tie and then who knows what would have happened. Romney and Collins broke ranks to vote with all 47 Democrats/Independents (hey Happy there’s the bipartisanship you’ve been looking for).

Frankly, when I saw last night that Collins was voting for witnesses I assumed it wouldn’t succeed. She doesn’t stick her neck out for principle so it was obviously just cover for her upcoming election.

Murkowski took one for the team. She protected Roberts from having to decline to break the tie (there is some debate as to whether he has that authority, given that he’s not President of the Senate, but he would be seen to be taking a side even by sitting out).

Of course, this means that every single one of the 51 Republicans who voted “no” on witnesses was the potential tying vote, so they’re all complicit. But especially Murkowski, Gardner and McSally, who have purple state voters who hopefully will hold them to account.

Waldo, where is the “mute” button? Don’t want to read this crap, including Happy and chuck agreeing about me.

Never mind. I found it.

“Congratulations to the Chiefs, the state of Arkansas and the entire USA for having me as president!”

In other news, the fallout from Jared’s Middle East peace plan continues, as the Palestinians have now cut diplomatic ties with the US.

Didn’t someone point out that Jared has read books on this? How insulting! I mean, it’s not as insulting as going on TV and explaining that you need to suck it up and take the deal because if you don’t you’re stupid and destined to fuck this up like you have every other plan…but it’s insulting nonetheless.

At least now Jared is free to work on jobs, and healthcare, and everything else.

“[The Founders] gave you a remedy and they meant for you to use it. They gave you an oath and they meant for you to observe it. We have proven Donald Trump guilty, now do impartial justice and convict him. I yield back.”

Schiff’s closing flourish from what I hear was a speech for the ages in summation at Trump’s trial.

You mean to tell me that Jerry Nadler didn’t beat him to the podium again? That was one of the funniest videos I have ever seen. Watching Nadler move faster than he has forever was hilarious.

Sadly, Nadler wanted to make that final statement in the trial, because he was heading home thereafter to be with his wife who’s dying from cancer. I guess he and Schiff never discussed it before, hence the confusion. Nadler has missed the rest of the proceedings.
