Immaculate Grid - Spoilers & Boasts

The one Marlins reliever I could think of didn’t meet the criteria.

I’m sure the answer is somebody who was just passing through, but it sure hasn’t occurred to me yet.

A HoF closer started his career there.

I had no idea he was an expansion draftee

Lucked into that one with my second guess on that square. My first guess was a closer who, as it turns out, neither played for the Marlins nor got anywhere near 300 saves.

I really tanked my rarity by putting the Braves row in the wrong order.

Since I wasn’t going to get a decent rarity score with .300 AVG and 500 HR categories today, I tried to go the opposite way and guess the most popular answer for each square. I went 7/9 on that—I expected recency bias to win out on Dodgers/.300 (it didn’t), and I guess the broader public doesn’t have the same immediate thought for Astros/Dodgers as we do.

I have no memory of Luis Gonzales playing for the Dodgers.

My astros column goes Jim Wynn, Don Sutton, Bob Watson. Total of 6.8. Surprised by the 4% for Sutton.

Also my brain thought Terry Pendleton was perinial .300 hitter. In fact, he only hit over 300 in three of his 15 seasons - career .270 hitter. The more you know the better you do on these in the future.

My Astros column was Eddie Matthews, Jim Wynn, and Jose Cruz for 5.9%. Interestingly, long time Pirate, Paul Waner, a .300plus career hitter played for all three franchises, the Dodgers, Braves, and Yankees, all after the age 38.

Seems a shame not to use Cabrera here.

I used Rafael Ramirez today.

Babe Ruth at 2% if you put him in the right square.

So after I bombed my entry for today, I was checking on some of the options and Preston Wilson’s page raised all kinds of questions:

Mookie’s brother was Preston’s dad, then Mookie married his mother.

I’m pretty sure that was discussed at some length in here when he was with the Astros. Of course, that’ll be 20 years ago next time we look up.

Easy today no teams. By utilizing mostly Astros or one time Astros minor leaguers I pulled off a 12.

Fuck I was in line for a ~25 (mostly from Ripken) but botched ROY/GG. Forgot Heyward didn’t win ROY.

I was plowing thru it not worrying about rarity.

But bottom right corner was rookie of the year/gg not rookie/gg and that was that.
