I remember I started reading in 1996 or 1997 (Scott and Kev’s site) shortly after Rob Neyer mentioned on the ESPN website (I remember reading it at a job I left in 1997). Maybe actually posted something around 2005 or so.
I’ve been a lurker off and on for a long time. I think I jumped on late in the 98 season and followed very closely 99-00. I didn’t join orangewhoopass until right before 05 playoffs. I have really needed the insight here with all of the crap going on! Thanks guys! Worst off season of my Astros life since I started following in 69. (Of course there were tons of years, our off season was irrelevant to the masses) That said, I’m over it and ready for Spring training. To hell with all these assholes! Long live Ton Griffin.

Came for insights in comparing where Keuchel wound up with where he could have been just taking our deal. Gotta be here somewhere…

Keuchel turned down $90MM for years 2017-2021 because, in his words, he “didn’t want to leave any money on the table”. He wound up earning $72MM over those years, leaving $18MM on the table.
