Getting Closer to "Play ball"

Well other than the series at Colorado/AZ and obviously the Rangers.

And all extra inning games start with a runner on 2nd…

The worst/dumbest rule ever invented for baseball. [quote=“NavinRJohnson, post:103, topic:443, full:true”]

I watched that rule In action when I did Express games with Mike last year. I absolutely hate gimmicks to “speed up the game.” If baseball is too slow for you, don’t watch it.

If for no other reason than that it is now technically possible to throw a perfect game and lose that same game. Just have ties if you’re gonna do dumb shit like this. God I hate that weasel Manfred

Is there clarification on the stats regarding the runner? It would seem there would need to be a new stat since runs scored could exceed computed “men on base.”

Barf.

Just wait until we find out that the Yankees start all of their games with a 2-0 lead.

I’m stealing that.

If I’m watching a baseball game and that happens I’ll turn it off. That’s not baseball so the game is obviously already over.

I rather they handle like the NHL. After 12 innings it’s a tie game. Starting an inning with a runner on 2nd seems fraudulent. It’s manufactured and not an achievement. Welcome to ersatz baseball!

sigh at this point I will take what i can get with baseball… i think i am addicted**

Amen. Maybe they should just have a HR contest to decide tie games after 9. Not that much more absurd than the runner magically appearing at second base.

This hiatus has ended my addiction. I’m not particularly excited about them playing this bastardized season this year. I would vote for sitting it out and trying again next year.

I have to admit, my prime motivation this year is watching the Astros go 50-10 and then run through the postseason and capture the series. Just to shut everyone up.

I’m so starved of content, I’ll take anything. Being cooped up and watching news every day, I need a distraction. And like Das, the chance for the Astros to stick it to MLB and Yankee/dodger fans is going to fuel my interest. #TeamSpite

Also, Did I I miss it, or did they expand the playoffs too?

Really…what’s wrong with a tie? Especially in this scenario. There are plenty of breakers that can be used to sort things out in the end. 10 innings and it’s a tie.

ETA: OK, 12 and a tie. I was going on MLBs excuse that they don’t want a bunch of overly-tired players during a pandemic. Anywhere from 10-12 would not be much more taxing, I would think.

Really think infections are going to be a big problem. Otherwise, go Astros, will be watching.

In a season where you could do LITERALLY ANYTHING to make it a unique one off, they slapped DH on everyone like they’re planning to do anyway, uncreatively squashed divisions together, and added an already widely disliked rule that doesn’t change anything at all aside from possibly trim an inning or two off of a few games. The good news is, they won’t lose any commercial revenue!

Fuck Manfred and fuck all the fucking toadies under him.

What a fucking embarrassment.
