General Wine Thread

So I tried some of Dusty’s wine. It’s not good. I do not recommend.

Too much sweatband, not enough toothpick.

What did you try? I’ve been tempted to buy something but haven’t had the temerity to pull the trigger. I have a dinner for Turley at our Amador winery in a few weeks. Maybe I’ll stop by his tasting room in Sacramento on the way there.

It was just some generic red table wine. I think it’s called “Dusty’s Red”. It’s not the worst wine I’ve ever had, but it’s certainly not worth the $18 price tag. It’s a $4 jug wine.

Two buck Chuck isn’t the worst wine I’ve ever had.

I ordered some bottles from Fine Disregard, apparently a couple of yahoos out of California. I have high hopes.

Way to live on the edge, HH.
That winemaker is dodgy.

Well, shit, then I’m screwed, too.

Sorry.

Try being related to him :man_shrugging:t3::laughing:

Yeah, I haven’t heard great things about that guy either.

Seriously, thank you everyone for ordering!! Means the world to me and Kara and we hope y’all enjoy the hell out of the wines.

So the Caymus 50th anniversary cab. That’s a big negative ghost rider. Didn’t like it.

In the other hand…Mt. Brave 2019. Out FUCKINGstanding.

What didn’t you like about the Caymus? I’ve been pondering that bottle.

Way too fruity and sweet, almost syrupy in taste. Like melted grape jelly, not wine. Finish was weak. Tasted like a $4 jug wine. It was not $4. We had it at Rudy & Paco’s in Galveston last night. It was on “special”, but the wine was anything but. I wouldn’t say it was awful, but not far from it.

My general comment about Caymus generally. I used to drink Conundrum with rich seafood dishes, but have long since switched to mineral old world whites.

Yeah, I used to be a fan of Caymus, but it’s gotten…not good. I should have known better.

Out of respect for my peers, I will not comment on Caymus and the amount of residual sugar in their wines.

Thanks for the heads-up
