So watched the latest and greatest of Ted Lasso last night. Lots to unpack, but a few predictions for the final few episodes:
Ted goes back to the US to be able to spend more time with Henry, after he realizes that the only way he can “lose” Henry to Dr. Jacobs is to not spend time with him.
Keeley and Jamie get back together.
Rebecca and the psychic’s predictions…it resolves with the “mystery man” in Amsterdam. He already has a kid…she left the green matchbook on his boat…blah blah blah. He’s actively searching for her.
Nate finally stands up to Rupert and returns to Richmond. The team is willing to forgive, spirited in part by the teams’ acceptance of Colin’s sexuality.
Rebecca asks Amsterdude in the morning, “Did we…?” He says no. After she leaves, Amsterdude sits down and says to himself, “Did we? Yes we did.” Does that mean he raped her, or is he talking about something else?
Well my personal opinion is much of the momentum from the previous 2 episodes was lost. They leaned heavily into awkward relationship talk. I never found Jack believable. And we’re supposed to buy that the woman who marched Keeley in front of the office and announced their relationship endorsed THAT hamfisted PR letter (which btw sounds nothing like any PR letter would sound like in that situation).
Oh, and the relationship counselor who is now having a relationship with a client? In most professional circles that’s grounds for punitive action from whoever issues your license. Also, he’s a dork. More so than Ted.
I did enjoy Beard’s talk with Henry. And the Jack storyline was almost made worthwhile by Jamie saying he thought he fooled the hackers by spelling password with 2 s’s. They setup the team’s acceptance of Collin nicely too. I wish that storyline had more of a presence but I get that their plates are full with such a big cast.
I like HH’s predictions, and I suspect Nate will break up with Rupert. He’ll realize he was just a pawn for Rupert to get back at Rebecca.
I think it means “we made consenual love” if for no other reason than the other option hits on a serious level that this show doesn’t do. But your question is worth asking.
Agreed that it’s definitely not in line with the overall tone of the show, but the vagueness of it in context with the first part of the scene threw me. If they did have sex, and it was consensual, why wouldn’t he tell her?
Apparently psychologists have a code of ethics that includes discussions of when a therapist can ethically have sexual relations with a former client.
So if the therapy ended before season 1, then the therapist could conceivably comply with his ethical directives if he has sex with a former client in season 3.
I think you’re right that it would have been consensual; there was never a hint of anything improper at any point during their interaction. Quite the opposite, in fact, as the Dutch Boatman (which has to be a sex position but I’m not going to Google it) was at pains to make Rebecca feel safe and comfortable.
Publicity people from the show have denied that sex actually happened but, on the presumption that Rebecca got knocked up, they couldn’t admit that because it would give away the reveal.
