General TV Thread

Holy shit that was good. I could never have imagined that they could emotionally pay off all that.

I was not a fan of the Garfield Spiderman movies (not really his fault) but his moment was incredibly well done and he pulled it off so well.

He was a terrible Peter Parker and a great Spider-Man. Tobey was the opposite.

Just a fantastic look inside depraved people. The Tom-Greg relationship is my favorite.

It really was just an increible all around movie. Considering the cast and the size of the story, I didn’t feel cheated on any front.

And man, I love Alfred Molina.

I can not see Alfred Molina and not think about Boogie Nights.

That was really fun. I’ve never seen the Andrew Garfield ones but he was a standout here. All the villains were great too.

Do you need to be familiar with all the previous Spider-Mans to see this one?

I’ve seen some of the Maguire ones, none of the Garfield ones, and all of the Holland ones; just trying to figure out how much of a catch-up I need.

It’s not critical, but Amazing Spider Man 2 will give you a lot more of the emotional beats.

Which actor is that one?

Garfield

I can’t think about Boogie Nights without thinking about . . . never mind.

One thing I’ll add: if you liked No Way Home and haven’t seen Into the Spider-Verse, go check it out asap.

Spider Verse is the better movie, but for those like me who have watched for 20 years, NWH was more enjoyable.

If you know the classic Spiderman stories then one big moment was in the Garfield movies and when he mentions it you’ll get it without having seen the movies.

While this thread is another reminder that there are no safe spaces from No Way Home spoilers on the inter webs, I thought I’d just pop in to point out that the creators of “Veep” have a mini series coming out soon called “The White House Plumbers”, all about the Watergate break-in.

Can’t wait.

Finally finished all 3 episodes.

Loved it.

Watching those songs get born was fascinating.

So was watching the 4 of them interact.

Some nice touches by Peter Jackson-- showing Linda’s photos as she snapped them, “this recording appeared on the album ‘Let it Be’”, the calendar-- but mostly unobtrusive editing.

And that editing must have been a gargantuan task.

I love The Beatles even more now.

Peter Jackson talked about this on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast. Worth a listen.

Best TV theme song ever?

The sex scene from the movie cracked me up.
