I might be a FOO but I don’t see Paredes having much range at 2nd, even if he grows a new hamstring.
It’s either trade Paredes for pitching/2nd/OF or eat some salary to move Walker. Playing Paredes at 2B would be a disaster
I don’t get this obsession with trying to shoehorn Paredes in at 2B. That’s just an awful idea, IMO.
He’s played second base for a significant part of his MLB career.
“Significant” being 67 total games, 53 starts and 14/11 in the last 3 years. He’s also played 5 games at SS, maybe they should try him there
I’m open to anything.
The middle of the infield would be too
He’s a leadoff hitter, right?
Put him in center.
C- Yainer 120 / TBD 42

Dubon = defense replacement for Altuve & Yordan.

I want both Paredes and Altuve to play as few games at 2B as possible but the priority is still getting them into the lineup and using 2B to avoid sitting them on the bench.
The Astroball thing to do would be to move many of these pieces.
Not sure we’re in the Astroball era anymore though.
I’m open to anything that gets the most professional and capable situational hitter on the team in the lineup.
Edited this for you…
The middle of the infield would be too
This made me LOL here at work.

We’re going to find out here in the void if Brown moves more towards the Crane + Click & Luhnow style or if the Astros move towards the Brown style of GM’ing. I vote A.
The second also known as the Drayton approach.

About 10% of it. None in the last few years. And do you not think there’s a reason for that? He may be a cat over there, but I don’t see it. I think it’s a really bad idea.
He’s a square peg on defense.
I actually think 2B is Matthews job to lose. Which he may if he can’t cut out the Ks. But he had a really good year at AAA.

How was his defense? I frankly don’t remember with the revolving door at the position this year. His .979 fielding percentage is just a tic below league average for 2B (.980) in 109 innings this year.
Lot’s of 2B and 2B-ish players on this team. Altuve, Dubon, Mathews, Paredes(ish). I wonder if they let Dubon walk, keep trying the Altuve LF experiment and go with Mathews or try to hit the open market. That failed last year with Polanco.
