Lawyers, guns and money?

Your plan does sound a ton more fun though

This seems sub-optimal.

To be fair, the description as a “recall” is a legal requirement; the many recalls that Tesla has issued are almost always fixed by an OTA software update. What’s notable with this one is that they’re admitting that their FSD doesn’t work.

Don’t let the door…

TLDR: Corporate HQ remains in Texas, Engineering HQ back to Silicon Valley

It does suggest that he has been unable to get the engineering talent he needs to move to Texas. Which is just sad.

Could be. It was posited that he wanted to be closer to Twitter HQ. Nobody knows the “why” yet. Uprooting the tech side of a tech business from the tech capitol of the world and then moving them back 2 years later is definitely a Big Business Brain genius-level move. So fucking glad I’m not a Tesla shareholder anymore.

If he wanted to be close to Twitter HQ, then you’d think he’d move the corporate HQ, but he probably likes to hang out with the engineers more than the accountants.

I’m sure the engineers at both companies are looking forward to more Elon.

I kept reading for the quotes from Abbott, but alas, there were none. I’m sure his first thought was to blame it on the border, or woke Austin libs, but figured that would be a tale most wouldn’t believe.

With real estate in the Austin area at California levels, I wouldn’t be surprised if some were looking at a lateral move in housing with a multiple of 2 to 10 or more on property tax vs California. The income tax advantage of Texas evaporates quickly, particularly if the house sold in CA was purchased several years ago. Proposition 13 keeps property taxes in check in CA. For example, my house is taxed at 1% on approximately 1/8 it’s market value. If I moved to Texas with about 3% property tax and bought a house for the price I sold mine, my property tax would go up 24 fold.

Forgive me for being cynical, but I doubt the engineers had much to do with this.

The tail is better in CA?
