If the Saudis are involved, it’ll be very hostile.

Yeah, I don’t give a shit about Tesla, but SpaceX is a gigantic national security concern.

Also I love my Starlink and don’t want Elon fucking around with the company and ruining it.

Anybody trust that QElon won’t be juicing these numbers?

Me neither.

The outsourcing of space flight to SpaceX is a disaster of historic proportions

How’s the reliability?

If the Saudis are involved it could be hoss-style, dog-style, any-style.

I’ve had it since July 1 and it’s been nearly perfect. Maybe a one- or two-minute glitch now and then, but infinitely better than the fixed-wireless I had been using. I watched the entire postseason and World Series without a hiccup, and I never could have done that on my old service.

During the day I get 50-100 Mbps, during primetime it’s around 40-50, and late night it may be up to 200. And keep in mind I’m in rural Arkansas in a valley between two mountains, surrounded by tall pines, and the dish is still literally sitting in my front yard. I guess we’re about to test how well the heater works because an ice storm is on the way.

The only problem I’ve had is finding a satellite installer willing to mount the dish to my house; they are all under contract to Direct TV or Dish and can’t touch a competitor’s equipment.

Closed at $125 today.

Still approx 10x market capitalization of GM and approx 10x its IPO price. Maybe more room to fall?

I wonder what sort of control he has over the Board of Directors. If it were the board of a normal company, reasonably independent with no single entity as a dominant stakeholder, they would have booted his apartheidist ass to the curb several months ago. I wonder how low the share prices will have to fall for investors to mutiny. We’ll find out, I imagine.

Hovering around $122 this morning.

Kia is killing it in ICE IMO

If their sales were flat (ie., still very good) or they had tons of cash on hand, they would be ripe indeed. Instead, sales are tanking and they’ve burned up all their cash building their new factories. That was a genius move a quarter ago. Nasomuch now.

All this said, they are still a well run, fiscally sound company with a compelling product. All their troubles go away within one quarter if they solve their noisy optics problem. The board is crazy to not drop or muzzle him. Talk about a Vegas-style bet, too. A savvy investor that times any such move (if it happens at all) could make a bundle. At $402 per share, they were moderately overvalued. At $122, they are sharply undervalued.

I haven’t worked with Kia in years but work with the Hyundai subsidiary that handles the user interfaces and computer systems found in Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia (which should be spelled Gia but whatchagonnado).

That also is one great comment.

To wit, something we missed in the last few days, Musk removed the suicide prevention hotline information from the site…over Christmas. He has now had it restored.

Twitter said that it was taken down while they make a better link. A statement that is clearly complete and utter revisionist bullshit.
