Electric Vehicles

Musk proved the Luddites wrong by showing that EVs could not only be practical, but that people would want them. He forced the car industry to flip its entire script. That will be his legacy, as I still expect him to be ousted as Tesla CEO sooner or later.

I’ll never buy a Tesla while he’s around. I can’t imagine I’m in too selective a group on that front.

If he gets ousted, Tesla will go back on my list. Until then…nope.

I won’t buy one.

I am in that same camp and currently shopping for my third non-Tesla plug in.

Also, thanks, Waldo, for re-posting the Towlie thread. I am with Hudson on this. Someone mentioned seeing if Towlie would revisit in 20 years. I hope she still lurks and can now enjoy the humor in the thread with all of us.

Her account on the old forum was inactive since late 2008. Guessing she has long since moved on.

I must have been taking a break during Towlie. I guess I saw her some, but never really bothered with any of the threads she was in. What amazes me reading it now is that none of you have realized that there was never a real person behind all those posts: it was all just another persona of the performance artist known as D. Ward.

I didn’t know until today that it was Towlie and not Towelie.

The House passed the IRA today, and Biden will sign it next week. That means the revamped EV tax credit hits in 2023.

Just tonight, Tesla stopped taking orders for the long range Model 3. That was the one that was just a fraction over the $55k price limit for a credit on an electric car. Coincidence? Doubtful.

Musk doesn’t know how Twitter works.

Musk is the trollingest troll who ever trolled.

And he looks like one.

Keep are going to make a Wrangler-based EV. They’re calling it “Magneto”.

I would buy an electric Wrangler, if they made it 2-door. I sold mine a few years ago, but I miss it, and would love to have another.

I believe their plan is to make all variants of Wrangler, just with an electric engine. This includes keeping the same drive trains and even a manual gearbox option.

That negates a lot of the advantages of electric motors, but the Magneto probably isn’t meant for the hopper-shopper market, but for people who want to drive properly off road. It’ll be unique in the market, that’s for sure.

They have the plug-in hybrid Wrangler, and that’s tempting. I’m not a hard core offroader, just like the versatility and fun of the Wrangler. Plus my dog’s name is “Wrangler”.

Does each Magneto come with a number etched into its door?

About what I would expect from this POS. I think all electric vehicles should come with a place to eat and sleep while waiting on batteries to recharge or for a tow.
