Have you seen the video of the explosion? The truck itself (or any of its components) did not explode, something in the trunk very clearly did.
Yes, and I agree.
Sorry, I read your post and then replied to something other than what it said. Need coffee or something.
That’s going to cost a ton to repair.
It’s stainless steel.
That’ll buff right out.
The perp was an active duty Green Beret.
According to his uncle, MAGA to the core. He rented the truck in Colorado Springs, drove it to Las Vegas with fireworks, etc. in the trunk, parked at Trump’s hotel, ignited the explosives and shot himself in the head.
At some point this country is going to have to get serious about providing mental healthcare to veterans.
Australia becomes the first country to turn on “V2G” nationwide. This allows EV owners to sell stored energy back to the grid.
Kia unveiled the EV4, a non-SUV EV that will start at $35,000 upon its US release late 2025/early 2026. Good for them; the EV segment needs more of these.
Hatchback pictured in the thumbnail, but there will be a sedan option.
“feng shui ain’t got shit on Tron, son”
eta: Can’t remember who said that (was it Joey?) and I don’t remember the context at all, but for some reason it’s always stuck in my mind. I think I’ve gotten to use it in conversation twice.
I think of that comment at least once per week as I get into my car. And chuckle every time.
My memory says JackAstro
I’ll put this here because, at the end of the day, as city populations continue to balloon, EVs are a stop gap measure; both for car companies as well as those cities with little or no transit infrastructure.
And, yes, Houston gets name-checked.
You may want to sit down for this, but the Tesla semi rig is subject to prolonged delays and the price has increased.
When I say increased, it’s doubled. So, even taking Musk at his word about range performance - which we hopefully all know now not to do - the cost/benefit analysis of the thing is fundamentally changed.
Coming soon: sodium ion batteries with organic cathodes (eliminating blood metals like cobalt) that will be 70% cheaper than Li batteries, work over a far greater temperature range, charge up to 10x faster and be less prone to spontaneously combusting.
Sadly, though, the energy density still sucks ass.
Shit you can’t make up.
https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2024-tesla-cybertruck-damage-long-term-wrapup.html
Edmunds had a CyberTruck in their long-term testing fleet. I said had because, after it was hit by a speeding car while parked, the damage was estimated at nearly $60,000. But that was moot as they could not find anyone to fix it. For months.
We paid $101,985 for our Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series in July 2024. The truck had lots of problems right from the start, and we never got a chance to put it through our full instrumented testing procedure, or even take it off-road. That said, many people on staff did praise the Tesla for its great long-haul comfort, and love it or hate it, this truck certainly turned heads.
After everything was said and done, we sold the remains of our Cybertruck to online auction site Copart for — deep breath — $8,000.
