Case counts continue to fall in the “Big 3” CA, TX, and FL while fatalities have also started to decline, albeit at a much slower rate. The Dakotas and Iowa are reaping what they have sown. The Sturgis rally is dumping a fuck-ton of exponential function on their ass. I wouldn’t be surprised to see S. Dakota’s hospitals be overrun with COVID 19 before the end of next week.

Reinfection is a real, but very rare thing. It probably won’t affect the efficacy of any potential future vaccine.

More widespread testing along with a number of factors have significantly reduced the case fatality rate during the second case load peak as compared to the first. One of the biggest improvements appear to be the change in ventilator protocols and introduction of oxygen directly into the blood thereby reducing the workload of the lungs.

The data on convalescent plasma is hopelessly confused. It doesn’t mean it’s not useful, it just means we still don’t know. Hopefully, careful placebo controlled studies can give some better answers.

Even if college age people have fewer incidence of serious symptoms, the transmission rate will be sky high so look for college medical facilities (often affectionately termed “Quack Shacks”) to be overrun at larger schools in smaller cities.
