COVID-19

That’s his way of blaming protests and not beach goers.

A teacher person I know has said that schools are being told that if they have remote only schooling they won’t be getting any state money. Will try to find a link.

Glad you’re ok, man, and that it wasn’t worse. Don’t feel bad, you’re not the first with idiotic redneck injuries, I’ve got the scars to prove it. Never had a skin graft though, how painful is that shit?

And I’m not kidding about the pear burner and/or diesel, those are pretty much the standard methods. Be sure and call the county sheriff before you burn anything, tell them the what and where, they can fine you if you don’t, and if something somehow does go shitass wrong (like a grassfire) they’ll (and the responding fire depts) be a lot nicer about things.

We are being “governed” by some despicable human beings, all of whom pledge allegiance to the idiot-in-chief in the White House. This reminds me of the Nebraska governor threatening to withhold CARES Act funds to cities if they issued mandatory mask orders last month.

My sister said the same.

I think Governor Abbott was pretty freaked out.

When it comes to gutting public schools, the coronavirus is a conservative’s wet dream.

He should be, and he should take whatever action is necessary to get things under control. I have no faith he does though because it’s his piss poor decision making during this crisis that has Texas in this position in the first place.

When is he up for re-election?

He should be. He is a huge reason Texas is in this disaster. He enabled irresponsible people.

Be careful what you hope for.

I was kind of hoping that Beto or one of the Castros would run against him. I wouldn’t mind if he got primaried out of there by someone like Will Hurd. The only thing I can think of right now that would be worse than more Abbott…is Dan Patrick.

Ken Paxton is another one to worry about. Those three are all horrid males.

  1. State officials are elected in the off-cycle from the President. There’s usually a huge drop-off in Democratic voters.

That’s why it would be nice to see someone who can generate some enthusiasm. Wendy Davis had a moment, but was underfunded and ran a flawed campaign. Beto or the Castros have experience of running major campaigns now, so you would expect that they would be better equipped to take on Abbott and get out the vote.

Abbott’s dick-stepping response to COVID-19 should still be fresh in everyone’s mind. If not, they should be reminded of it on a daily basis.

The Democrats last candidate was a disaster.

They’ll just run videos of the parties and beaches, and claim that Abbott was doing the right thing but it was undermined by the irresponsible behavior of those kids who all vote Democratic anyway.

Abbott doing the right thing. It was undermined by the protests, not the beach/bar goers.

That won’t fly. Even Abbott blamed the irresponsible young people.

You and I know different people. They will blame the protestors and not themselves. I’m shocked at how many people I know are just enjoying summer as though there is nothing floating around in the air. So, there’s no way they aren’t blaming the protestors for the spread.

Oh, and these aren’t necessarily young people - they are my age. I cough and worry I’m sick.
