COVID-19

It may be important to note, that I had little reaction to those other vaccines. Plus, from what I’ve seen of people that got shingles, I win by avoiding them even with a day of feeling blah.

Because they want to use it against democrats in the midterms. I am way past trying to ascribe reasonable motivations to these sociopaths when, in almost everything they do, the cruelty is the point.

No doubt, that’s why I want it.

Too much hyperbole for me.

I clearly need a macro for “never assume malevolence when incompetence is equally likely”

Shocking!

I used to think that, but there have been so many policies / decisions that were overtly designed to harm someone. Just owning the Libs is no longer enough; inflicting physical, mental or financial hardship is now a requirement, even if it spreads beyond the target Libs.

Abbott’s border nonsense will mean higher prices and empty shelves across Texas and the US. DeSantis’ spat with Disney will - if planned legislation is enacted - cost Osceola Co. tax payers $2 billion (with a “buh”). The child separation policy was explicitly meant to deter parents with children from seeking asylum through its overt cruelty. The fact that they didn’t bother to plan ever to reunite these families is just obscenely evil.

And then there is the GOP Contract on America. Increasing taxes on the 99%, while sunsetting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, is designed in a lab to destroy lives.

It’s why they blew off Covid originally; it was affecting liberal cities like New York and Seattle, which was great news to conservatives.

It is beyond foolish to act as if Republicans are simply incompetent. In fact, I think they are extraordinarily competent at what they set out to do which is, in part, to motivate their core voters by acknowledging their congenital hatred of the other through deliberate acts of wanton cruelty, particularly against the most vulnerable.

They’re gold medalists in punching down.

At DFW currently, I’d say 10 maybe 15% of folks wearing a mask.

We are never getting out of this pandemic.

Vaccination is the answer, not mask mandates. Covid is not going away no matter what people do,

Agreed. This is the really stupid part: the mask mandates are there to protect the fuckwits who refuse to get vaccinated. But the mandates are also to protect those too young or otherwise unable to be vaccinated, and they’re being put at risk because a bunch of selfish pricks can’t handle wearing a face covering for a few hours.

If Trump told them to do it, they’d wear plastic bags over their heads.

That’s crazy. 99% at DCA and 90% in Burlington wear masks in my flights thru each each week. It’s required at DCA but not in Burlington.

At the grocery store last week, I was wearing my mask. Some dude muttered to me, “you know, that’s not required here anymore”. I said, “I’m doing this for you. I’ve never had Covid but I am now flying twice per week, interacting with thousands of people in airports, on the plane and at work. I can’t vouch for them so I wear this in case I have been infected but am asymptomatic. I’d feel horrible knowing I passed it on to someone else”. He just stood there blinking at me so I walked away.

True, but we’re not there yet. There’s still too much virus going around to let vaccines be the only defense, especially for immunocompromised/unable to be vaccinated folks. The difference between a pandemic and endemic is the quantity of virus, not our collective attitude towards the virus.

I will continue to wear my mask just as I always have. Many others will also. I still got Covid despite the careful behavior which dodged the bullet for over two years. Mask mandates were in place then, and I stayed away from large groups and indoor activities.

Mask mandates provoke violence and endanger travelers. I do not care if we have them or not. I will protect myself as best as I can and will depend on the vaccine, just as I do flu shots, to keep me out of the hospital.

It would be nice if the PERSONAL LIBERTY!!! folks would stay out of the faces of those who choose to wear them.
