Federal social distancing guidelines gone as of tomorrow. Mr. Absolute Authority is leaving it up to Governors. He will resume campaign trips soon and hopes to have “massive rallies” with people sitting next to one another.

McConnell is calling the Senate back to Washington on Monday. As a reminder, 39 Senators are over 60 years old, 22 are over 70 and 6 are over 80.
It’s worth noting that DC’s outbreak is growing, and they rank 6th-worst (out of 51) in cases per million, behind only New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island (?) and Connecticut. That’s not good company. DC is worse than Louisiana, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, California and even the OG Washington state.
The senators and representatives all signed up for public service in a way far greater than any person working at a grocery store or delivering pizza. They shouldn’t be shirking their duties while expecting the working people to risk their health in order to be able to feed their families.

The new Covid 19 con job being perpetrated by Trump is his latest task force (making it the third or forth task force) called “Project Warp Speed”. Seriously.
Project Warp Speed will, according to Trump, produce and distribute a vaccine throughout the nation by the end of this year. That’s develop, test, manufacture, distribute and inoculate every American by the end of this year.
In October he will certainly claim the vaccine is close to being manufactured and on schedule for a “beautiful Christmas present from me to America” but if he’s not reelected, well there’s no way the vaccine program could continue.

I know the “imagine if Obama had…” bit is cliche, but really, if Obama had declared that Texas wouldn’t get disaster relief unless they expanded Medicare, the rioting never would have stopped.

Well, as a good liberal, it would be inappropriate of me to champion the rights of poor brown folk but not also rich white folk.
However, you’re forgetting that the Senate requires a lot of staff to run, and they all have to come in too. Also, despite having their own full-time medical facility and staff, they don’t even have enough tests to test the 100 Senators.
Lastly, until no one has it, we’re at risk of a breakout anywhere. Especially for people traveling from all over the country, mingling with other people from all over the country, and then traveling back to whence they came. This is one of the reasons why this shit in Michigan is so annoying - all those idiots are exposing themselves and others, and they’re all going to be disease vectors that just extends the pandemic.
I’m not forgetting it. I just think that the people who ostensibly run the government are people who very much signed up to be “essential workers” and it’s amazingly cowardly and hypocritical that they won’t do their job when at the same time workers are being forced show up at known supercluster meat packing plants or face losing their job without unemployment benefits.
