The original X-Wing on DOS in 1993 was pretty fucking mind blowing. And difficult.

I don’t like that McConnell held open RBG’s Scalia’s seat for almost a year to steal it from Obama, forced through Boof to fill Kennedy’s seat that curiously became available all of a sudden, and then rammed through Serena Joy’s nomination stealing that seat from Biden.

The fact that it was Trump who got to make those nominations is a side issue (my bad for injecting it into the debate). McConnell engineered elevating three partisan hacks to the Supreme Court when he should’ve had the chance only to do one - Kennedy’s - and that one stinks to high heaven for multiple reasons.

Point of order…he held Scalia’s seat open, then rammed through RBG’s replacement.

Thanks. Corrected.

Well, after a close contact exposure at school this week, our fully vaxxed (in mid-December) 9-year-old daughter tested positive on a rapid test this morning. Temp around 101-102 all day, congestion, sore throat, dry cough. Here we go.

Sorry to hear that.

Hope everyone in your home has this fully behind them in a few days.

Man, that’s bad news, I’m sorry to hear it. I hope she recuperates quickly and that no one else in the house gets infected. I’m not sure how you’ll pull that off, but I hope you do.

I got a note from Daniel’s school a week ago or so saying that a kid in his class had tested positive and that they would let us know if Daniel needed to stay home for the next five days or whatever it is. I get notes from the school regularly saying that someone in the school has tested positive and that they are obligated to let us know but if it’s not someone from your child’s class this will be the last you hear of it. This last note was the first incidence in Daniel’s class, which is something of a miracle it seems to me now that I reflect on it. Anyway, apparently the decision is that if a child is vaccinated and asymptomatic and didn’t have any prolonged, close contact with the infected person they can continue in person learning. Daniel is of course vaccinated, and serendipitously he’s a natural social distancer, so he’s continued to attend. Out of about 30 kids in the class only about 10 were there in person last week. I don’t know for certain, but I suspect that directly reflects the number of children who are vaccinated. I wonder if that in turn reflects the parents’ vaccination status. I hope not, but of course it’s possible.

I wonder how many parents are vaccinated and boosted and so on but decided not to vaccinate their children for whatever reason.

My daughter had a close contact in her class earlier this school year - before she was vaccinated - and didn’t catch it. Also neither she nor my son or I caught it from my wife around Christmas. Doesn’t really matter where she got it from though.

Just woke the girl up to check her temp. 98.6. I’ll sleep a little better knowing that Advil/Tylenol knocked it down that far.

I personally know several fully vaccinated/boosted parents who under no circumstances will get their kids vaccinated.

(Mine are all vaccinated and as of Tuesday morning they’ll all be boosted)

What’s the rationale?

I studiously avoid telling other people how to raise their kids, but man, I don’t know.

It’s got to be some sort of upside down logic where the parent is willing to take the “risk” of the vaccine but not impose it on their kids while thinking at same time that Timmy isn’t at risk anyway because covid “doesn’t hurt” kids.

Pretty much this.

Public health considerations take a back seat to fears, rational or otherwise, about their kids.

(This is my 3rd attempt to reply, so apologies if this is a repeat)

This seems bad.

I’m a little shocked it’s not Lin Manuel Miranda.
