Well played, sir. Well played.
Judge Hidalgo is out of fucks to give.
Necessary? No, but itâs sterile, and he likes the taste.
I got my first Covid test today at Austin Public Healthâs testing site at the Travis County Expo Center. Very smooth process, and free.
Did they tell you how long to expect to wait for the result? My wife got tested today, and they told her it would be 4 to 5 days.
They said âwithin 5 days.â Mark got his in 36 hours.
Got a note from Big Oil saying we were requiring weekly testing for unvaccinated to be in the office. Right now, the company will pay for it, but that could change. Unclear on the logistics of how exactly it will work.
Can confirm.
Tested at 2pm Wednesday afternoon. Got the results at 11:30pm Thursday night.
The need for many of the unvaccinated to be tested everyday for work is one of the reasons why there is a shortage / backlog of tests. Theyâre clogging up testing the same way they clog up hospitals.
Hey I got an idea if youâre unvaccinated you canât come in to the office and if you donât come in to the office youâre fired.
My employer has been at âget vaccinated or get a new jobâ status for a while. Almost 100% compliance. Have heard they might have made a couple of case-by-case exceptions, but without a very good reason you have to get the jab.
There was a big stink made last week about a major medical system - letâs say Johns Hopkins (it was of that ilk) - who fired 700 employees for refusing to get vaccinated. 700! In the midst of a pandemic!
Lost in the flood of righteous outrage and spittle was the small fact that the medical system has over 73,000 employeesâŚand so they had fired less than 1% of them.
If you give people the binary choice of getting vaccinated or getting the fuck out, they choose the former.
This is exactly the federal government right now.
These binary choice compliance results/statistics are extensible to many industries.
Oh my god! This threadâŚ
The place I tested at finally got me my results late Monday night⌠after I tested on 12/31 (results came back negative).
Holy shit. Was this City of Austin or a private facility?
I get that there is a ton of testing happening, but fuck me.
I tested at the Travis County Expo Center yesterday at 11:30 am. Besides how smoothly the site operated, there were not long lines. People in the Austin area should go through Austin Public Health and forget private facilities.
It was private - a pop-up near my house with no line. I knew I wasnât going to get immediate results but I did not expect 10 days. I wouldnât go there again, but it was NYE and I did not want to stand in a long line.
You couldâve had COVID and recovered before you got your test results back.
