Prior to Omicron, there was already data that vaccines offer additional protection beyond previous infection. Rates of reinfection in previously infected were lower in those who were subsequently vaccinated than not. Hence, the recommendation for those who had the infection is to be vaccinated 90 days after.

Just got back from HEB looking for the home tests. Waiting in line, and the man gets up to the counter and asks if there are any tests left. The answer was no and he gets mad. I get all that, but what I don’t get is the guy wasn’t wearing a mask, yet was concerned enough to test. People are hard to explain.

If there had been a full court press on mask-wearing and vaccination, from the government from the start, there would still be maskholes and vaccine-hesitancy but there would not be such widespread confusion. Having the government argue against itself confused a lot of people and now here we are.
Saying you’re “doing my own research” is stupid. But not as stupid as having the then-President saying that his own CDC/FDA/NIH experts are full of shit while flouting mask-wearing and recommending injecting bleach.

I admire your optimism. My brother in law argues vehemently that Trump and the Republicans begged people to wear masks and get vaccinated, but the evil Dems fought him and sacrificed lives just to embarrass Trump and not give him credit for ending it quickly. That this whole pandemic is a result of the evil Dems confusing people and convincing them to not get vaccinated. Reality no longer matters to people.

True. He doesn’t even argue that they created it in a lab, only that they exploited it for political gain. On the Trump-crazy spectrum, he’s pretty middle of the road.
He’s vaccinated? I guess it’s possible if he thinks the evil Dems tried to hide vaccines from all the upstanding patriots.
Maybe that’s the move to get these last mouthbreathers vaccinated, a sort of don’t throw me in the briar patch routine. I mean, it’s pretty entertaining on a certain, malevolent level to open the paper every day and see the inevitable headline “Anti-Mask / Anti-Vaccine Advocate Dies of Covid,” but these idiots are obviously prolonging the misery for everyone else. And the society is in serious danger of losing a significant number of critical healthcare workers to burnout, fatigue, frustration and abuse from patients and their families.
So maybe we find a way to get through to these necks that Joe Biden really, really does not want you to get vaccinated. Let’s go Brandon right down to the CVS for shot, whaddaya say?
