So it’s no different than a Trump press conference?
Except that the virus’s symptoms - one way or another - will be over on 3-4 weeks.
Lots of curbside available, Waldo. Maybe the app is more current.
WHAT…THE…
Nevada has reported 22,000 new cases today.
Where are you seeing this?
NVM. Must’ve been fat-fingered. Corrected now.
I just checked on the app and three locations that claimed to have times available actually didn’t once I clicked on them. You must just have to check at the exact right time.
Also note that HEB is currently revamping their curbside setup to help accommodate 7 day in advance pickup. They say it should get better in the next few days, but they’ve cut times now that should expand again soon.
My post was hours ago. You have to check often.
Here in Korea our new infections have consistently been under 100 a day for a few days straight. Today it was under 50 with deaths being mostly minimized at this point. I think we’re under 200 deaths total. The government is now cautiously trying to figure out a way to gradually get back to normal. We never had a full scale lock down in Seoul and even the hard hit city in Daegu wasn’t a mandatory lock down but the Seoul city government is selecting certain businesses to lock down for awhile. Most notably night clubs were told to shut down until April 19th. Another surprising result of this was the closing of popular cherry blossom viewing areas to the public. If you’ve been in Asia during the spring cherry blossom season you know this is a huge deal so to see police posted up preventing crowds from entering is kind of jarring. On the other hand I spent last weekend in the southern region which has remained mostly untouched by the virus and the normality of people’s behavior there seemed so distant and strange.
The BBC has an animated graphic on this page, showing how the cases accumulated around the world over time. It’s impressive to watch the likes of South Korea hold down their outbreak while Italy and Spain blow past them.
It’s also terrifying to see the US come in, starting in March when the President was still telling everyone that there’s nothing to worry about, and just blow everyone away. New York now has more cases than any other country.
The federal government is cancelling a lot of state orders for COVID medical supplies (N95 masks and whatnot), seizing the supplies for themselves. Speculation is that the administration is passing them to well-connected Republican associates, so they can mark them up and sell them back to the states again.
If true, this is horrible and criminal.
Still, I’ve said this before, but when we get this far ahead of ourselves throwing out conspiracies trying to connect a conspiracy with dots of more conspiracy it only gives Trump and others something of substance to shout fake news.
They’re going to shout fake news but let’s not give them something of substance to point to.
I guess we’re in the clear! Tomorrow, the Trump administration is terminating federal funding for COVID-19 testing.
Flatten the curve has been the buzzword but I think that’s going to turn into ride the waves.
We can’t go back out in public unless we are testing and tracking - like they’re doing almost everywhere else. Pushing the cost of testing back on the states - causing sites to close and testing to get even slower than it is now - means we’re all going to have to stay indoors longer.
The administration is doing the exact opposite of what it should be doing at pretty much every turn.
This is really bad news.
51 recovered coronavirus patients test positive again in South Korea
At least 51 patients diagnosed as having fully recovered from the coronavirus in South Korea have tested positive a second time after leaving quarantine, according to officials.
The patients from Daegu all tested positive in a “relatively short time” after they were given the all-clear from their initial infections, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said, according to the government-funded Yonhap News Agency.
A specialist team has been sent to conduct an epidemiological investigation in the city, which is the epicenter of the epidemic in South Korea, the agency says.
For now, the KCDC’s director-general, Jeong Eun-kyeong, believes it is likely the infection was re-activated after remaining dormant in the patients, as opposed to them being reinfected, the report said.
Maybe it’s bad news; maybe it’s not that big of a deal. I’d want to know if their positive tests means they are actually infectious and more importantly, whether they were symptomatic. They might have traces of the virus and still have an immune system that is easily winning the battle with the virus.
Yes. But it does make it less clear whether those recovered are fully recovered.
