I agree. They don’t have a history of doing that and shouldn’t start now with Correa…as much as some of us may want them to.

I never told my dad what I made as a lawyer. It was not a fortune, but it was way more than he ever made. I wanted him to be proud of me, not envious.
My oldest son got a 3/4 scholarship to Gonzaga law school and starts in the fall.
I hope he ends up completely burying my meager earnings, although he is looking to go into immigration and civil rights. He doesn’t think he will make a fortune.
My dad asks me all the time. Funny, he then translate that to “$X per week”. He was just a blue collar factory worker, and the 70s were not good times, so I make far more than he ever did. But he taught me to live modestly, give of your time and money as you’ve been blessed, and by all means , live within your means. He’s proud of that. My sister is an elementary school teacher, and is worth far more than she is paid, I’m sure. To her, I’m Thurston Howell III.

I took a (big) pay cut to come work in the federal government. But, was (and am) proud of that federal service. I was so excited that I showed my offer letter to my dad, a 34-year army vet that topped out at colonel. I still remember the look on his face when his eyes rested on the salary. I could see the storied accomplishments of his career diminish in his eyes just a bit. It was awful.
Correa was injured getting a massage. Anything is possible over the course of a full season. Could Bregman go to short, and are our 3B prospects better than those at short?
More conversations:
“You suck!”
“No, YOU suck!”
I’d like to see the Astros go to about 8 @ $184 or 7 @ $168. If he’d bite at that I’d lock him up. If he doesn’t, then I’d have to roll the dice and see how he does betting on himself.
I think it will take at least $25M AAV

Agreed. It probably takes something between six years, $150 million (what Springer signed with Toronto for) and eight years, $200 million to get a deal done. However, considering Correa only turns 27 in late September, he might consider something shorter or with an opt-out clause after the second or third year so he can get a second crack at free agency around age 29 or 30 if proves he can stay healthy and produce at an MVP-level offensively.
All hail the artist formerly known as Jackastro (MarkR will be holding a lighter up on this one):
I mentioned in my article that I thought it would end up $26-28M AAV with early opt out
Thanks for the reminder about your site!! Bookmarked.
Just occurred to me - why would Correa think he is worth less than Jose or Breggy? He might take less somewhere else, but he won’t take less in Houston. And I don’t blame him. 6 at $180 is the starting point. And given salary inflation in sports - he is right to expect it.

Ignoring the fact that he IS worth less than those guys?
Not certain that he is worth less. He is the best defender. He is the vocal team leader. And his bat still has the potential to produce 90 runs/ 30 HRs/90 RBIs/.275 batting average. Doesn’t have Bregman’s bat - but he is in the conversation.

You failed to note that he’s also made out of damp cotton candy.
I wonder if there will be a massage clause in whatever contract he does sign.

Same with Deshaun.
