Possibly, but I doubt Correa has no other significant offers from other organizations. That said, the market certainly seems to be helping the Astros in this case, and that doesn’t upset me in the slightest. They are a better team in 2022 and the next few seasons with Carlos Correa than without.
I’m sure he has significant offers, but I think it’s clear that the market has not developed like Team Correa had expected. Perhaps someone will still jump in with silly money, but the teams likely to do so appear to have made their moves already.

I have intentionally focused on work all morning and this far into the afternoon and not checked in here so that I could happily read the 80 posts announcing Correa’s return to the Astros after my last meeting. Y’all are letting me down.

I found out about Verlander from this tweet, sitting on the can, groggy as shit just after rolling out of bed. I’d gone to bed unaware of any of the drama, so I was blindsided. And because Gammons is such a… peculiar… wordsmith, it took me several tries to understand what the hell he was talking about:

I hope you chose the bubble wrap option because that carbon fiber tub and aluminum roll cage are not gonna feel real good during the first of many hard landings.
It comes with an “obstacle avoidance system”. I wonder if one of those obstacles it avoids is the ground…

I am more and more convinced that Crane is just doing due diligence to make sure he isn’t paying more in years or $$ than he has to.
As soon as he is sure, then he will make a slightly better offer and Correa will sign.
A week ago I thought Correa returning was 10%
Now I think it’s all but a formality.
Naive maybe.
I really got pessimistic when BoreAss entered the picture. Things are soundling hopeful but I retain the right to pessimism until I am proven wrong.

Since Crane took over the team has had a very good relationship with Boras. Altuve and LMJ are both his clients, probably others I’m forgetting. Drayton was the problem there.
