College Hoops 2021

Deservedly so. That was bed-shitting of the epic variety.

Up 18 at the half. Absolute garbage basketball.

I doubt it. TCU has been playing very well recently and a #5 over a #4 seed in a conference tournament is unlikely to move the needle much.

Next up in Big XII Tournament play: #1 Kansas vs #9 West Virginia, who beat #8 Kansas State in the play-in game yesterday.

Later, #3 Texas Tech vs #6 Iowa State and #2 Baylor vs #7 Oklahoma.

I can’t really see UT getting any better than a 6 seed. It’s a perplexing team.

They might get a #5, but no lower than a #6. Beard’s Tech teams never did a thing in the Conference tournament, FWIW.

No matter what happens from here on, Carr and the absent Mitchell have been big disappointments.

At least Mitchell let everyone know he wasn’t going to be showing up.

I didn’t know a bunch about Carr and didn’t really have expectations coming into the season, but I expected more than this.

Carr averaged 19 ppg last year, and was Beard’s top get from the portal.

He was a true point guard who could score and was considered the prize who made Beard’s constructed roster a winning one.

Carr made us figure that out game by game?

Yeah, I knew his stats from Minn but had never seen him play.

Who did? Everything written about him while he was in the portal was very positive. I had high expectations for him, but he was not outstanding at anything. He had some good games, but boy, was he inconsistent. Today he was just bad.

OU takes Baylor down, 72-67.

The ultra-rare occasion where I root for OU

The quarterfinal round in the Big XII Tournament ends with a decisive 72-41 Texas Tech victory over Iowa State.
Tomorrow’s semi-finals:
#1 Kansas vs #5 TCU
#3 Texas Tech vs # 7 Oklahoma

TCU is red hot and could upset Kansas and Oklahoma and Tech split the season series so anything could happen in the Big XII Tournament. Just like always.

That game was over after 10 minutes. Tech is a lot like a better coached but less talented version Memphis in the sense of being capable of shitting the bed against a mediocre opponent but when they are at the top of their game, capable of beating anyone.

So Illinois goes down (to Indiana), Auburn goes down (to A&M), and UH is struggling against Cincy. Tough day!

FWIW The Athletic still has Texas as the second #5 on the seed line (they had consistently been listed as the top #5 for the past few weeks). I don’t think they drop to a #6 unless some really crazy stuff happens. But it would not surprise me to see them fall victim to the inevitable 5/12 upset.

UH is starting to pull away from Cincinnati 60-49 with 4:33 left.

Cougars turned it up a notch in the second half and ran Cincy out of the gym.

And I like the old school uniforms. They didn’t go with all odd numbered jerseys, but I like the retro vibe.
