So, Sark… What exactly did Hudson Card show to win the QB job?

You might think that at some point putting in your QB2 who has played in a bowl game might just change the offense a little bit? Especially given that Card cannot escape the passrush that the OL has no intention of stopping? Might even run some play action or rollouts or, you know, something to get the poor guy out of the pocket?

Well tonight Sarks Longhorns have looked an awful lot like the Stronghorns. Obviously only his second game but Herman’s teams never looked this bad in any game.
Herman needed to go, but hiring Sarkisian after he worked magic with the most talented college football roster is another huge risk. I understood if Meyer was coming through that door, but I was dumbfounded when the deal was announced based on his tenure as a head coach at Washington and USC.

I feel pretty confident saying that the Horns are competitive if Thompson starts this game.
Sark picking the wrong QB is very concerning though. How are you that wrong in practice?
I agree. Sark is supposed to be an offensive guru. How can he get that decision wrong?
Card checks all of the usual UT boxes.
He definitely did. You can’t be a dick and just be ok or good even, you have to be great. I’ve been skeptical of Sark from the beginning. Maybe he will be great and this is just growing pains but losing to anyone this side of Alabama in the manner that they did, is unacceptable. My wish was Matt Campbell, maybe he wouldn’t have come here but that’s who I wanted.
To be fair to Sark he did take over a Washington program that had won 18 games over the previous 6 years and won 34 games over 5 years. I don’t know why this qualifies him to get a job like Texas though.

That got him the USC job, which he pissed away due to excessive drinking and embarrassing the university. He, then, went to Nick Saban’s school of rehabilitation, and here we are.
Every other coach besides Ty Willingham and Keith Gilbertson has a winning record for the Huskies going all the way back to Darrell Royal in 1956. It’s not that unusual for coaches to win and UW, they have a good program there and great support.
Tom Herman won 32 games in 4 years at UT. That got him fired.
Herman supported the players in their George Floyd/BLM protests. After that, anything less than a national championship was going to get him fired.
This is the problem with the UT program in a nutshell
Don’t forget about the “Eyes of Texas” issue.
The only thing holding UT back is the culture, fans and boosters.
Well at least Texas didn’t lose to an FCS school I guess.
