I have a few buddies who were SIU Carbondale aviation program alumni- they were amazed when I knew their mascot was a Saluki.
I believe Steve Finley is a SIU Carbondale alum as well.
Mrs banedoodle is a Carbondale native and we were married there. We just got off the phone and she was driving behind someone with Illinois plates, an SIU sticker and a sticker for a bar she used to hang out at. This kind of thing happens to her all the time even though it is a fairly anonymous and vanishing town. She described it as “simulation level coincidences.” I suggested the city was raining on her no matter where she went.
