College Basketball 24-25

Maybe a way too early thread but yesterday they announced yesterday that Auburn and Houston are doing a ‘home and away’ neutral site deal.

This year they play Nov 9th at the Toyota Center and next year they will play in Legacy Arena in Birmingham.

In a growing trend thanks to the NET quad system. Making them a neutral site helps make sure it is a quad 1 or 2 win or loss

With the playoffs being what they are and Auburn’s football seasons being what it is, college basketball can’t get here soon enough.

Preasons AP released yesterday. Top 10:

  1. Kansas
  2. Alabama
  3. UConn
  4. Houston
  5. Iowa State
  6. Gonzaga
  7. Duke
  8. Baylor
  9. UNC
  10. Arizona

My Auburn Tigers check in at #11 and in my opinon they have one of if not the toughest schedule in the country this year. They will play the following preseason ranked teams:
2. (twice)
4.
5.
7.
12. Tenn
13. Texas A&M
14. Purdue
16. Arkansas
19. Texas
21. Florida
23. Kentucky
24. Ole Miss (twice)

Plus since they are playing in Maui, they have the chance to also face numbers 3 and 9.

Houston also has an extremely tough schedule.

Half of the Top Ten is Big XII.

Every team in the Big12 has tough schedules.

So does every team in the SEC. Both of those conferences are head and shoulders above everyone else.

Big XII has more teams at the top of the pre season rankings. SEC appears to have a deeper league in the Top 25. It should be another good year of seeing which league shows a stronger finish.

In College Basketball related news, Zach Edey who only fouled out once in college (5th game of his freshman season) fouled out of his first NBA game in just 14 minutes of playing time.

Kansas curb stomping Howard and UH doing unspeakable things to Jackson State. It’s open season on tomato cans as the season begins.

Baylor embarrassed themselves against Gonzaga 101-63. Bears may not be all that. Every other Big XII team won last night including a UCF win over Texas A&M.

That was rough. Lots of talent for Baylor – but having only three returning players (one of whom is hurt) means there’s a LOT of gelling to take place. Fingers crossed it all clicks by March.

Auburn destroyed Vermont last night by 51. The result moved them up to #2 in Kenpom rankings behind Houston. So Saturday night’s game is looking like an intereresting match up.

Man, I thought Hunter Dickinson had moved on. Now I see that he’s going to piss me off for another season.

Yikes

He should talk to Holgren for tips.

Hunter Dickinson. That’s a pretty fucked up name.

According to flight log records, earlier today, Auburn had some kind of personnel issue (fight?) on their flight and had to return to the Auburn airport. Now it looks like they are back in the air bound for Hobby.

KU getting outscored by 16 at the line, at home, is not something you see often

Pilot reported to air traffic control he was returning due to a fight on the plane. Auburn says it was “horseplay”.

I don’t get the fuss, it’s just a little ruckus, no great commotion or anything,

Can you describe the ruckus, sir?
