Oklahoma who finished 11th in the SEC regular season, who were eliminated in the first round of the SEC tournament won the NCAA tournament.
That makes six championships in a row for the SEC and 7 of the last 8. Six different teams have won a championship during that time.
How did they end up qualifying for the tournament given those dismal regular season and tournament finishes?
Theyâre in the SEC where the top 16 get in.

Because they had an RPI of 24 and had played 9 teams that made the tournament, including several in out of conference games. Of the 9 teams they played that made the tourney, five were regional host.
The sec had 12 schools make it this year. With the 11th place team winning it all, who can question that they didnât deserve that many bids? A few years ago, Ole Miss did something similar but they were reportedly the last team in and won it all.
I thought it applied to anybody, since you had like an 11-month window to sign them.

Yes, I believe you are correct about both. Oswald was drafted in the 23rd round out of Holmes Community College in 96. He didnât make his pro debut until summer of 97.
The so called âdraft and followâ rule ended in 2007. I think? Used to a be quirk I loved to kept track of, but that hasnât been a thing in twenty years. Man, I feel old.

They reinstituted the draft and follow in 2022. Itâs only for high school and juco players drafted after the 10th round and choose to attend juco. It also affects the signing pool, I think. Iâm not sure if thatâs still on the table for the new CBA currently being negotiated.
