Now 13-12. 11 HRs have been hit. It is time to test the bats and the baseballs.
They keep this up, theyâre gonna get stress fractures in their ribs.
First two teams in are new to the CWS - West Virginia and Troy.
Guy for MissSt just broke his aluminum bat on an oppo-field popup
Letâs Go, Mountaineers!!!
You read about the storm and the 5 or so people sent to the hospital yesterday? Any updates on how theyâre doing? Scary stuff.
Once again, the MissSt v Georgia game is infinitely more fun than the Stros game
9-9 top 9, 9 HR so far
The only way that qualifies as fun is if youâre not rooting for either team.
Dunno what about this park or the weather or what, but the ball is just flying around. Both pitching staffs were allegedly pretty good
No different to me on the fun-meter than watching a 45-43 football game
Winning run at the plate in the bottom 10 in the GA/MSST game
âŚand GA wins
Things happening in the UNC/USC bottom of 8th
UNC wins!
âŚon a very strange fly ball to LCF
Hook âem.
Here are the average preseason rankings and the season outcomes for college baseball this year:
A few observations:
Of the eight highest pre-season ranked teams - Five of them were regional host, and three of them made it to super regionals. One made it to Omaha, two had their seasons ended in the super regionals, four had their season end in the regionals and one didnât make the post season.
Overall, six of the Omaha teams were ranked to start the season. The lowest average ranked team was West Virginia (21.0). Alabama wasnât ranked at the start of the year but was in the polls at the end. Troy was never ranked at any time this season.
With more scholarships per team and NIL, the quality of college baseball is better than ever. It is also more unpredictable than ever. It is going to take some time for fans to figure this (out based on how over reactive the fans of my Auburn Tigers are being about losing back to back super regionals).
Some more context:
Since the College World Series adopted the eight team bracket, this will be the first time in 50 years that there wonât be a team from either California or Florida playing in Omaha. Previously happened in 1950, 1952, 1956, and 1976.
And two teams from the state of Alabama. Is that a sign of the end times?
Only if they were Alabama State and USA.
Hey State made it to the regionals by virtue of winning the SWAC. They didnât last long but they were there. The State of Alabama had 5 teams make the regionals this year: Alabama State, Alabama, Auburn, Troy, and Jacksonville State. That is half of the D1 programs in the state.
Man, everything OU is trying is working out. Talk about coming together at the right time.
