That Wright St catcher threw a laser to snuff out a steal attempt.

With the late slide, I can see why he was called out. Not sure if I agree with the malicious contact and being ejected. Some of the chatter I read this morning said it was possibly the NCAA trying to send a message to stop running into catchers.

Frankly it looked worse in real time.
The slide definitely wasn’t much of a slide and it resulted in contact so maybe that was the thought process.
My unasked for thoughts are that the runner never had any intention of doing anything but trucking the catcher.
He was going dead red, not looking to go inside or outside (where there was plenty of space for a slide and reach).
Malicious to me because he has zero intent on doing anything but running through him.
