Love the CWS even with the made for TV format. In the old days, the CWS was a double elimination tournament with no divisions or brackets. If bad weather appeared, it could go on for days and days and days andā¦. Unfortunately, the two teams I was on which went to Omaha barely stayed long enough to unpack. I pitched 4-5 innings in the bullpen once as a soph but did not get into the game. My 1965 year was star-crossed, but that is another story.
Aggies were very magnanimous to let Campbell score the 2nd run: reach base on E5, CS but throw dropped, dead to rights advancing to 3rd but the pitcher fell down fielding the ballā¦scores on 2 out 2B.
Gordon is on track to not lasting 5 again.
Couldnāt put anybody away that inning, had 2 strikes on everyone but the leadoff batter. Kudos to the aggie bats too.
Pitched too much up in the zone. Maybe overthrowing from nerves/pressure? Hansen too much up also. The aces disappeared the last two series.
Southard has a bright future, imo.

Yeah, not a great throw but heās gotta catch that before he worries about the tag.
I couldnāt tell if the ball was headed for the steps before he slid or if he kicked it in.
He kicked it in.
He took his eye off the throw to look at the runner. Should have been an easy play on a bad throw.

9 of the 11 aggies to reach base have done it with 2 strikes.
I would have coached the two on no out situation differently. Pierce played for a big inning and got nothing.

Horns were going to win games this weekend with their bats and it just hasnāt happened yet.
Getting here was more than I expected once their pitching fell apart a month or 2 ago.
