There were some questionable called strike three’s, but they were dominated for 8+ innings and had a chance to win. Tough loss, and a nice win for Miss St.
27 outs in a game. UT struck out 21 times. Holy crap.
Was the opposing pitcher Kerry Wood in disguise?
Might as well have been.
I suppose that if there is a silver lining, they put a lot of pitches on the MSU closer.
2&Q would be an awfully disappointing end to a really good season, but this team has a lot of fight in them. I’m glad that my schedule tomorrow afternoon is pretty light - may need to add a few “admin work” blocks to keep it that way.
That was brutal. Horns just refused to lay off the high fastball, all game. At one point in around the 6th inning the Horns 5-9 hitters had not put a ball in play: 12 K’s and 1 HBP
I believe the 21 MSU Ks and the combined 33 Ks are both CWS records for a 9-inning game.
The wind aided triple that got MSU a run didn’t help.
Hodo should have caught that ball.
ICYMI Arizona eliminated after a 14-5 pounding earlier today by Stanford.
The Cardinal next play the loser of tonight’s NC State/Vandy game (NC State up 1-0 in T6 currently in that one on a solo shot off Jack Leiter who otherwise had blanked the Wolfpack with 11 Ks).
I couldn’t tell if the wind messed him up or he was afraid/unfamiliar with the wall.
Looked to me like he played it badly and did not know where the ball was. Who knows why. He should have made the play.
Still 1-0 Wolfpack over the Dores now in B8. Leiter subsequently gave up a pair of singles (3 hits total) but the strikeout total is up to 14.
Dores?
“Commodores” I believe?
Short for Commodores. Frequently used by their own fans.
Live and learn. I do not think I know a “Dores” fan.
Meh, you don’t want to. Whole school is rich kids on drugs.
They’re not all on drugs.
Congrats to the Wolf Pack. Playing well at the right time.
NC State, overflowing with MOJO, beat Vanderbilt 1-0.
“…and the seedless shall lead them.”
