Cole and FA

Wonder what they are rearranging their finances for??? (actually, I don’t ‘wonder’)

So you’re saying there’s a chance?

There’s a chance. He could sign with the Astros for the largest contract ever offered a pitcher, if he wants. But other teams are willing to pay him a nickel more. It’s infinitesimally small, but there’s always a chance.

Glad we are getting involved.

As Boras speaks the truth becomes more opaque.

Boras wins again.

The worst possible outcome has come true. Hope the boys are ready to rock his ass next season.

Also, there’s quite a bit of smoke on Twitter that the Astros are in talks to deal Correa and Reddick to the Reds for Luis Castillo.

Well it looks like we will need a plan B. I hope we stick it to him next year.

Fuck 'em.

Fuck’ em right in their bloated player contract paying, bullshit, holier-than-thou, we deserve to win because we’re the Yankees attitude.

I won’t wish injury on Cole, but I hope he comes right back down to Pirate talent level again starting next year and they’re looking to unload his insane contact on the Orioles in 2 years.

While were hoping… here’s to hoping that Luhnow finds the next Cole for a fraction of the cost

As has been pointed out it’s now a Cole/Sanchez battery.

That contract is insane. Fuck NYY.

You’ve heard of the $100,000 infield…now here’s the $100,000,000 rotation.

FTY
FTY

(There’s a 6 character minimum for posts; can we make an exception for a FTY?)

9 years???

I trust in Luhnow, he got us Verlander, Cole, and Greinke. He’ll do right by us.

Because there is no way I would have wanted the Astros to sign him for 9 years.

I agree with Mark. No surprise there, I guess. I do not wish for an injury to Cole, I do hope for his performance to be mostly like WS Game 1. He lost most of me when he was an ass in the clubhouse immediately after Game 7. Now his being a Yankee disgusts me.

You know, Folks, losing Cole, talk of trading Correa and Reddick, JV’s age, maybe losing Harris, and the rabid anti-Astros frenzy which now exists inside and outside baseball, make me even more ill we lost Game 7. I am afraid we have crested the hill of the Golden Age and are heading back down. Greinke pitched brilliantly, we hit the hell out of the ball at people with men on, and Harris threw a great pitch. Damn you, BBGs. This historically great team deserved better.

I now treasure 2017 even more. So much has to go right to win it all - just ask the Dodgers.

Jim, it hurts to read your post, mainly because if I’m being honest, I’ve been beating those same thoughts down since the minute we lost Game 7. Good news is that the Nats won with much less talent than the team we put on the field IMO, which means we can win with less talent too. At least this is what I’ve been telling myself. I’m still on the, “In Luhnow we trust” bandwagon until proven wrong. There’s still a lot of proven talent on this team in Verlander (yes a year older, but still a proven talent even if at 85% of what we got out of him last year), Gurriel, Altuve, Correa, Bregman, Springer, Grienke & Osuna. Then you look and see there’s also the potential to add to the mix with untapped potential. Unproven? Yes, but the potential is there in Tucker, Alvarez, James, Toro, Whitley, Abreu, Urquidy & Bielak. It will be a different team with a different feel to it, but it’s going to be fun to watch nonetheless and you never know, maybe we’ll find ourselves fighting to the last week of the season once again. Only time will tell.

8 fucking outs.
