Heartbroken by this. Leach has been one of my favorite coaches. Such a character. His press confrences are the absolute best. What a shitty day this is.
It was nice and refreshing to have a coach be honest when talking to the media. He kept things real, and it was always enjoyable to watch his Tech teams torment the Aggies no matter their record.
He introduced me to one of my favorite idioms in one of his press conferences. After some Tech game where the he felt they got boned by the refs, he said “It’s like a ham and egg breakfast. The chicken is involved, but the pig is committed.” I love that expression.
It did rain mud in Lubbock as you probably know. Our poor Boston Terrier would come back indoors from his bathroom trips into rainy outside with mud in his eyes.
The Heisman was his main goal, not a record, but I guess Bijan does not care as much about another trophy. Bijan had a fairly serious injury also, and Ricky had not.
Bijans stock is not likely to get much higher than it is now in terms of the draft. And then there is the whole, life of a running back being shorter than ever. Get in the NFL at a younger age and stand a better chance of a good second contract
As always, the answer is money. My point was Ricky wanted the Heisman; Bijan does not want it as much. Their money and injury considerations were the same.
Running backs don’t win the heisman anymore. And yeah, when you’re running back you have to go when you get the chance. Running backs don’t get paid anymore.
