GO Navy! Beat Army!

I love this game.

Hadnot burst on the scene against OU, I think, and he was great against UH in that titanic game. He flamed out quickly, but boy, he looked like the real deal for awhile.

Then there was Edwin Simmons….

He wasn’t even the second coming of James Hadnot.

I recall distinctly that he suffered a knee injury “in practice” when the entire campus knew he had fallen trying to piggyback his girlfriend down the stairs while drunk.

That WAS practice.

Shades of Pat Sheehan, but I do not think a gf was involved. Just dorm stairs and alcohol.

There’s a name I really hadn’t heard in a long, long time.
My post following is in regards to Hadnot but also a feature on Pat Brown, UT baseball. I bet you know Pat.

Ankle “injury” and it involved the stairs at the KA house and yes, some booze from what my roommates told me.

As I’ve stated, I’ve no place to cast stones speaking as a former young and dumb undergraduate/fraternity member once myself…

He was my teammate in 1967; I was a senior, and he was a soph. He started in LF.

He is in extremely poor health.

Was talking Texas football recently with some relatives…the Baylor one brought up 2 of the best HS RBs in Texas history who both never lived up to the hype (for different reasons): Robert Strait and Ben Gay

Interesting: I wonder why Navy are sporting NASA logos on their helmets.

Probably just trying to find another way to fuck with Army.

My dad was an Army man…101st Airborne, so we always rooted for Army around my house. But I love this game no matter what.

Army’s unis look like they could double for directing traffic.

Ditto. I love the game, and we were Army at my house.

I also kinda like “3-yards and a cloud of dust” football, so this old school feel soothes my soul.

Army’s passing QB - Ballard went to high school with my son. They played several youth sports together. His dad was the high school football coach and a really good one.

I love the triple option, which the service academies still run.
