Has Grimes ever been a head coach? I admire the guy cause I think he’s fantastic at identifying and attacking weaknesses, pre game and in game, but I don’t think that translates to being a head coach.
No he has not. Here is the case for Grimes:
Grimes was Gene Chizik’s offensive line coach at Auburn from 2009 to 2012. Since then, he had stops at Virginia Tech and LSU before becoming the offensive coordinator at BYU, then Baylor. His 2020 offense at BYU led the nation in yards per play and was top-five in scoring. In 2021, Baylor went from one of the worst offenses in America to a top-35 unit that won the Big 12. So far in 2022, the Bears are No. 15 in scoring at 38.4 points per game.
The last time Auburn had consistently strong offensive line recruiting and development, Grimes was a key part of it. His offenses at BYU and Baylor have been innovative and quickly successful. He’s been a successful recruiter everywhere he’s been, and he knows both the SEC and Auburn quite well. There’s always a decent amount of risk in a first-time head coach, and a lot would depend on his hypothetical staff. But Grimes still makes plenty of sense.
If Auburn can’t get Lane, I think Grimes is the back up plan.
Someone explain to me how LSU is the tenth best team in the country.
It makes sense to me, not that I think real highly of LSU, but they have been improving throughout the year. Only team below them that seems like they should be ranked higher is Utah, at least to my eyes.
To me, there’s the top tier, about 5 teams (not Clemson), and then it gets real muddled, where on any given Saturday 6 thru 25 could all beat each other and I wouldn’t be surprised.
Also, Tulane vs UCF in a couple weeks might be for the G5 spot. Should be interesting.
I’m not at all confident that Clemson is better than Michigan or Alabama.
Both losses are pretty explainable. FSU loss was a missed PAT and the other is Tennessee and they destroyed Ole Miss
Not saying it’s right, but I can see the argument
They’re not
Hot news out of Tuscaloosa.

Alabama Man wishes it was real news
Texas Tech is hanging tough with #7 TCU, but is down 13-10 at the half. TCU’s only touchdown came on an early first quarter punt return. Behren Morton, Tech’s starting QB, was injured in the second quarter and Tyler Shough finished out the half at QB.
Northwestern are 37.5 underdogs to Ohio State.
It’s tied 7-7 with 1:30 left in the first half.
TCU playing without WR Quentin Johnston
Northwestern couldn’t have asked for better weather today.
And Tech kicked a field goal on 3rd down for their second score apparently.
OSU should beat Northwestern during the eruption of Vesuvius
After three quarters Texas Tech has a 17-13 lead, but TCU has the ball and is driving.
