That, and your head is empty.

What exactly are you claiming, Coach? Are you and the other Longhorn fans on this sub-thread actually claiming that Big XII referees have given preferential treatment to Texas Tech for years? Because when you say Tech has gotten away with holding more than any other team for years there are only two possibilities: Big XII referees are on the take, or the Red Raiders have, shaolin-like, mastered the art of the undetectable hold, and that this mastery is exclusive to Tech and transcends multiple head coaches and even more O-Line coaches.

I know that your training at Texas Tech School of Law would not allow you make the accusation of bribery of Big XII referees without evidence, so I have to assume it is the second.

The thing is, if Tech had, in fact, mastered the undetectable hold, they probably wouldn’t suck so much. I’m not an expert on offensive line play, but I find undetectable holding indistinguishable from good blocking technique. I think we can all agree that Tech’s O-Line doesn’t have that. Therefore, I have concluded that the ratio of actual instances of holding to instances of holding being called by referees is roughly the same for Tech as it is for other schools. I don’t disagree that Tech’s line holds a lot. They’re not very good and so they hold a lot. They also get called for holding a lot. I haven’t looked at the statistics, but I would not be surprised if Tech led the Big XII in holding for most of the last 13 years or so. Tech hasn’t had a good O-Line since Leach days. I dispute that Tech somehow gets away with holding more than any team in history. I think that is wrong for the reasons I’ve stated.

After an historic win by the Longhorns over the Sooners, an innocuous statement about a team that isn’t UT after a game in which UT wasn’t involved has elicited absolute outrage from the UT faithful. I have to assume that it’s residual butt-hurt from the Longhorn’s overtime loss to Tech.

I find that very gruntling.

I’ve got no dog in this fight, but I suspect that what MarkR is suggesting is something akin to the old Georgetown basketball strategy. They came out from the first whistle of preseason all over their opponents, often fouling, sometimes not. Over time, people became inured to it: that’s just the way they play, you can’t call everything, etc, etc. That doesn’t mean anybody was getting bribed, or that there was conscious favoritism. It’s just that the repeated low-level stuff becomes routine and gets overlooked while watching for more egregious stuff.

Apparently Tech is now rent free in your head.

Texifornia, I have some bad news for you. We UT fans do not give a shit about Tech. I lived with the Tech delusion for three years which truly believed Tech is a big rival for UT. That truly is hilarious; UT fans barely know where Tech is. That is why you guys hate us so much. We think you are a nonentity.

Tech wins sometimes, as they did this year. I tip my hat to them when they do, and the QB played great in that game. The loss did piss me off for sure because I hate to lose to a second tier team.

You/Tech are not living in my head, and i am not reliving past games. If I were, it would be Alabama, not Tech. We played like crap on the road. I give you and your school credit for winning the game. How many have you won since then? Maybe your coach’s gloating about all Big 12 roads going through Lubbock pissed off a FBG?

No need to send your usual witty repartee. I will not read it.

Couple of real shit drives so far for the Texas offense

Don’t underestimate I-Sate’s defense. Much different that OU.

Ewers’ backward throwaway was almost disastrous.

Good defense for sure but still expect better from the offisense

On 3rd and goal you might consider covering the slot receiver.

Iowa State has a good defense so some offensive struggles would be expected. Iowa States offense on the other hand has been pretty bad and they just drove down the field. Texas needs to remove their head from their asses

ISU QB did some slicing and dicing on that drive.

Lulz at ISU PK falling down on that kickoff.

Last years Horns showed up today

ISU: “On third down we’re gonna throw the ball short of the first-down line”
UT: “I gotchu, fam”

Well, that INT was helpful. Maybe the offense will pull their heads out of their asses now.

Huge pick!

Ewers having all kinds of deep accuracy issues. Did make a couple of very nice throws to Sanders and Worthy for the TD.

Roughing the passer penalty was ridiculous, as was the no call on the PI on Worthy.

Ford has been really good this year.
