C’mon. You ever been to Lubbock?
And the last one was when? Not to excuse any of them but you write like it still happens. You are smarter than that and your post was unnecessary.
When was the last southern lynching?
The last I am aware of was 1981 in Mobile which, frankly, I did not have any recollection of.
That was the first since 1913. None are excusable but your post made it seem like it was commonplace.
But, I will grant you that 1981 was a revelation to me.
How about breonna Taylor? Trayvon Martin? James Byrd? Lefty is right. Enough of this here. It’s not funny.
They are all horrible. But none in Alabama and Byrd was killed in Texas.
Again, enough. I’m sorry I raised it.
Can’l we just all watch Casey Thompson and Nebraska try to lose at home to Georgia Southern?
Peace, Neil. It’s all horrific regardless where it occurs. My mother’s family was from Alabama and I am no doubt a little sensitive about the reputation. The folks I have met from Alabama are as hospitable and decent as any of us.
Down goes Corn.
They’d really do Scott Frost a mercy by going ahead and firing him now.
But you did.
Now, reading back on things, were you trying to imply that I was in any way talking about lynchings or anything of that nature?
And if so, how and why?
I have an interest in lynching history, and one of the hallmarks of lynching history is that the crimes occurred in the light of day without punishment. Texas and Alabama were lynching states, and while it was a peculiar connection I found that connection—the uncalled facemask—ironically and darkly amusing. And I don’t think in any context that history shouldn’t be evoked. Sorry, I tend to be a bit of a puritan. It had nothing to do with you.
There were postcards to commemorate the lynchings.
Yeah, but maybe my line was a bit bizarre. I’ve apologized. I’ve explained myself. I’m done.
In a sad attempt to hijack this thread

Good for your historical interest, but there was no reason for you to post that in the CFB thread. Grabbing a face mask is nowhere close to a symbolic lynching, and I expect a guy as intelligent as you are knows that quite well. Many of your posts seem to attempts to be humorous, which some are, and many seem designed only to agitate, and this one sure did. You no doubt are smarter than I, and many of them cause me to wonder WTF is he thinking/saying?
Glad you apologized and withdrew from the field. The lynching post was unnecessary and should have remained in your head.
I used to play ball with a guy that had the last name of Lynch. I always wondered about the etymology of his name but not as much as I did about another teammate by the name of Dickinson.
OU at Corn:

Nebraska, tired of losing 1 score games, fires Scott Frost. Down 35-7 at home to Oklahoma. Quite cruel to make the interim coach have to face OU in game 1 of his “on the job” interview
Can we just go ahead and start the 2:30 games now? Early slate has been pretty awful
