Carlos Correa

I’m sure that’s all going to work out well for them.

Interesting, if true.

Something about the ankle/leg/whatever he broke in the minors? Sounds like they were looking for a way out to me.

Very, very few people will be.

Can you imagine what prime A-Rod would fetch in this market?

I’ve mentioned a few times that Correa has never hit 30 HR.

From 1998 thu 2010 Rodriguez never hit less than 30.

I think Carlos and Rodriguez aren’t in the same league as far as hitting but arrogance and greed, they are one and the same.

I’m in the camp of the players should try to get every dime out of the owners as they can. Just can’t believe the Mets are just blowing through the luxury tax like this. Nice to have NYC TV revenue or whatever.

I am as well.

I think the key is the wealthiest owner is willing to outspend all the others – revenue be damned. I sincerely hope the Mets finish, at best, third in their division.

There’s a part of me that really understands what Cohen is doing. If I had unlimited money like him, I would absolutely want to buy my childhood team and sign every superstar I could and try to bring home as many WS trophies as I could to my city. I just don’t like that Cohen is getting in the way of my actual team winning one (I mean another one).

It also makes a ton of sense for a guy like Correa to spend the next decade in New York. He’ll get far more attention there than he would elsewhere, far more than in the Bay Area never mind tertiary markets like the twin cities.

Echoing many similar lists, the Mets are outside the top 10 in revenues:

and local TV deals:

and solidly behind the Astros in each list.

I’m convinced Correa viewed shortstop as the more lucrative position He was set on marketing himself from an early age, even learning English

Nothing wrong with that. And, yet, I’m still having trouble being happy for him.
My short-coming, no doubt.

The marriage proposal is of a piece with this calculated life

The most detail I’ve seen on the deal falling apart. All from Boras but interesting nonetheless.

Not biased at all, I am sure. The Giants are silenced by HIPAA.

From the article/what Boras said, it appears the Giants were quite ready to kill their deal with Correa.

Maybe someone posted this and I missed it but per Passan the Giants concern was about the leg he broke back in 2014.

WTF???

(Per ESPN+ article)
