It’s amazing to me that this team has even won as many games as they have with the offense this bad
Thought he’d bunt on that first pitch, then decided to slug his way to glory
It’s not talent, it’s production. They have five guys who are either former batting champions or MVP type players, and a guy who is going to try to make a case for ROY this year. They have far more offensive talent than the average team.
It’s both. Obviously Alvarez, Gurriel, and Tucker haven’t produced. But sending Goodrum, Siri and Maldonado out as a third of your lineup is a recipe for a loss.
I hate come from ahead losses.
I hate that somebody Space Jammed all the Astros’ offensive skill to start this season. They have 46 runs in 14 games. Absolutely pathetic.
Everyone here knows why Maldonado plays. What he hits is irrelevant. Siri’s fine. Goodrum’s presence on the team is puzzling never mind having him hit in high leverage situations. Nevertheless, none of this matters at all if the guys who are supposed to hit a lot were hitting even a little.
I agree with this. If Goodrum is playing, at least give Castro the start.
I understand Maldonado and I agree Alvarez, Gurriel and Tucker have to deliver. But no, I don’t agree Siri is “fine”. And Goodrum…having all three back to back to back is just a rally killing lineup.
And 21 of those in two games.
Dusty in the postgame presser talking about sitting Tucker tomorrow. Because…don’t want him to build any confidence/momentum I guess.
I thought Baker was supposed to be a player’s manager, and I’m sure he wouldn’t have wanted an off day in his playing days after busting out of a slump with three hits.
They can put in Matijevic, after entrusting him with a walkoff opportunity in his MLB debut
Don’t give Dusty any more ideas.
Part of the problem isn’t just the number of runs they’ve scored, but the frequency at which they’re scoring. In their last 29 innings batting, the Astros have scored runs in two of them. This lineup has been unable to sustain rallies or to create runs.
The days off are pretty clearly planned way ahead.
Like, in the offseason way ahead.
And I sincerely doubt Dusty has a ton of input. Or at least he’s bought into the way the FO wants things done.
They had their foot off the gas for much of last season and they were pretty mediocre for long stretches as a result. But they secured the division and played well enough to win a pennant.
Now back to the turd sandwich.
How dare you bring logic and reasoning to this discussion.
The James Click era is not real impressive thus far.
They went to the World Series last year and were one game from it his other year.
