Another blow to smaller market clubs. Which MLB really doesn’t care about.
Don’t forget, the players care about small market teams even less. The large/small market gap isn’t strictly on the owners.
Read something interesting this morning that Steve Carlton never threw a no hitter, but threw an NL record six one hitters, one of which was against the Astros on June 5, 1979. Crazy.
Surprising Carlton never threw a no-hitter. He had that kind of stuff for a very long time.
One of my good friends in St Louis is still pissed off about that trade for Rick Wise.
This is disturbing…on several levels:
But, you know, sign stealing is the most egregious and reprehensible thing in MLB history ever
Perhaps I’m just naive but I wasn’t aware one could snort oxy.
Yeah, that was a new one on me too. Of course, I guess some people just want to get it into their system as fast as possible, and the next option is an oxy enema.
Did you never watch Justified?
If ever I see someone mention Justified, I can’t help but say, great series and anyone who hasn’t, should watch it. I’ll go back in my hole now
Not really. I recall catching one episode where a guy got his gun hand chopped off and then was shot by the Marshall, and that he shot an unarmed man.
I’ve never seen Justified. I looked it up just now. If it has Walton Goggins in it it’s probably good.
First season is kind of procedural ‘asshole of the week’ but it lays the groundwork for the rest, which is excellent. Season 2 is probably my favorite, Margo Martindale is awesome.
One of the most underrated series ever. Olyphant was awesome in that role. With great series like these it seems like many times the ending doesn’t live up to expectations, but I though Justified ended perfectly. That final scene with Raylan and Boyd is five minutes of gold. “We dug coal together.”
It still gives me goose bumps.
Kay found guilty on two felony counts. Facing 20 years, minimum.
I haven’t been following the trial too closely, but I’m slightly surprised at the conviction. It seemed like there was reported evidence that Skaggs got his drugs from a variety of sources and I read that the medical examiner testified that he “couldn’t say for certain” that Fentanyl caused his death. Both of those are avenues towards reasonable doubt that Kay supplied the drugs that killed Skaggs, but obviously the jury was convinced.
Just a complete tragedy all around. My heart goes out to the families of both Skaggs and Kay.
Yeah, I didn’t know all the ins and outs, but it was pretty obvious from the facts and testimony of other players that Kay regularly supplied Skaggs with the oxycodone. Whether or not the fentanyl was from Kay or not is probably not as much a slam dunk. And obviously getting wasted drunk while taking opioids is 100% on Skaggs.
I also heard that Harvey’s cocaine use was pretty much an open secret when he was in New York.
