I want to say, whatever, but I do totally love “arm barn”.
It’s one of the stupidest things I can think of. Nobody in the world thinks they keep bulls in the bullpen. It, in no way, promotes animal cruelty, tooth decay, or the metric system. I can’t imagine any serious organization spending one second on such a stupid idea.
The only thing is-“arm barn” IS fun to say.
Yeah, whatever you think of PETA and whether or not “bullpen” is offensive, I totally dig calling it the “arm barn”. As in “Dave Roberts completely fucked his barn and now the Dodgers are watching the World Series on TV.”
Couldn’t agree more with y’all. PETA is a nonsense organization just looking for headlines (if they ever gave a shit about animals, that stopped a long time ago), but “arm barn” sounds like it could’ve been baseball vernacular for a century.
No serious organization is.
Never mind the fact that PETA euthanizes a much higher percentage of animals (80%-90%) than the national average. There may have been a time in the past that they truly cared about animals, but that couldn’t be further from the truth now.
I’ve long believed that PETA is secretly operated by some shadow conglomerate consisting of the National Livestock and Meat Board and the Leather and Hide Council of America and whomever else is highly vested in the production of animal goods. It’s the only way to explain how what should be a perfectly defensible ethical position gets communicated in the pettiest, cringiest, most performatively obnoxious way possible.
But yeah, Arm Barn is pretty good.
I saw on Twitter earlier and can’t be bothered to find the post again that instead of arm barn, the 2021 Phillies will be calling their bullpen the Blown Save Enclave.
Almost as dumb as the Indians having to change their logo and name. People are way too sensitive these days.
How dare an organization respond to market pressures and find a way to make even more merchandising money!
Sounds like some bullpens around the league
Have you guys played around with this field vision thing from MLB? (Couldn’t find any discussion on it.) I think it requires a MLBdotcom account, but a fun use of technology.
This technology is kickass, and I can’t wait for the day when it’s a bit more mature and available in realtime.
I still wish MLB broadcasts had a Statcast layer that you could turn on and off, showing things like the strike zone, pitch type/speed/spin rate, exit velo, launch angle, sprint speed, route efficiency, etc., all in realtime. That plus the ability to basically watch a game in VR could be a game changer.
Frickin laser beam strike zones. Is that too much to ask for?
Jewish space laser beams

Please show yourself out.
In a country torn apart by conflicts over race, religion, and politics, the Houston Astros provided much-needed relief by unifying people everywhere in their hatred of the Houston Astros.
