If the extended screens weren’t there SF gets another run as well, cause that sucker was headed for the 18th row
Joey Votto has homered again today in the first inning. He’s unconscious right now. He joins Nettles, Bonds and one other player whom I can’t remember to have hit 6 or more homers in 6 straight games.
Dale Long had 8. Maybe others.
Griffey Jr. and Mattingly.
I have no idea what they actually do in that position. Anyone?
In the “you hate to see it” department, Cole gave up 7ER in 5.1IP to the Rays. Yanks currently losing 14-0. Brett Phillips hit a grand slam (not off Cole).
Cole’s ERA is now above 3 for the first time since his opening start.
Cole in his 10 starts since the spider tack crackdown announcement: 59.2 IP, 51 H, 31 ER, 12 HR, 19 BB, 79 K, 4.68 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 31.7% K rate.
In his 11 starts prior: 70.2 IP, 50 H, 14 ER, 5 HR, 9 BB, 97 K, 1.78 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, 36.9% K rate.
This makes me so sad.
I hope he is the Pittsburgh Gerrit Cole the rest of his career.
That was my fondest wish too.
Good
Tito stepping away from the Cleveland Soon to be Guardians to focus on health issues. Specifically toe and hip.
Hope he heals up quick and is back at it next year.
He looks older than I do. Take that, HH.
Hector Santiago topped his 10 game sticky fingers ban with an 80 game PED suspension.
Good to see a player getting back to basics.
(ETA: they’re releasing him once his suspension is up)
