Didn’t know that. I was fixated on how well Gausman was doing and wondering what was behind his success.

They are going to want McCormack for starters and then the sun and the moon.

-McCormick and a starter- for starters

There is more than one OFer doing well at SL. I would hate to lose Chas, but Kimbrel is exactly what we need.

Kimbrell would definitely be worth letting McCormack go. The question is what else will it take? Garcia or Javier or Urquidy? Plus some prospects. I can see the Cubs pricing themselves out of the Astros’ market.

Kimbrel is due the remainder of $16M this season, in the final year of his contract, which had a mutual vesting/club option. He won’t make the vesting portion, so it’s a straight club option for $16M in 2022 or a $1M buyout. I don’t know if that increases or decreases his trade value, in terms of return prospects. I don’t think the Astros would spend $16M on one RP, especially if they have any hopes of re-signing Correa.

I also don’t think I have a point, here… just tossing it out for discussion.

I really, really hope they don’t go after Kimbrel. In my opinion, he makes Giles look like a stable, no-drama reliever.

You against baseball GMs, I guess. Fun to watch it play out.

The guy from the Pirates, who we once had, looks pretty good too.

Who’s the guy from the Pirates?

Rodriguez

Thanks. I had to look him up and saw he was in our ML system. I don’t remember him at all.

I think I read somewhere recently that we sold him to Baltimore, which doesn’t make much sense for a young pitcher with good numbers in AAA, but I don’t know the whole story.

I’m lukewarm on Kimbrel but would be interesting to acquire him. I still remember a couple years ago when he was wild as heck and couldn’t get anyone out. He’s intriguing but not my first choice.

Rodriguez - I think I like him, but he’s got less than 20 career saves and not a single save in a truly high pressure situation in the majors. He’s cheap salary wise however and even with 2-3 years remaining he might be cheaper to acquire. He relies almost totally on his fastball which is a little concerning since every time I’ve watched him it rarely gets above 92-93. Seems to be working though.

Taylor Rogers - I’m leaning a little towards him as my favorite. Like Pressly, he has closed and been a setup guy. Since he’s a southpaw you could swap out he and Pressly as the closer any given night or series depending on the team your facing or where you are in their lineup. Maximum flexibility and he has plenty of playoff and high pressure in division experience. But the Twins aren’t gonna give him away. Probably gonna hurt bad to get him.

Iglesias, Soto or Cisneros would excite me as well. Power plays come playoff time and all 3 of them can bring it.

Holy cow what a moment:

Baseball at it’s finest, w/o the DH; everyone has a bat and a glove…
IMHO

PS: it’s now 8-7, Nats.

I came here to post this. I love it so much.
