Baseball Miscellany

May Karma treat Bauer, the Dodgers , and Manfred the way that woman was treated. They deserve the same at least.

MLB is really bad at things like leadership and accountability and basic decency.

Completely agree about Footer, Iā€™ve lost a lot of respect for her since that time because itā€™s clear to me that she (along with Justice, Drellich, etc) had a major axe to grind with the Astros brass. While true that she doesnā€™t owe the world or social media a tweet every time Aroldis Chapman or Domingo German enters a game, her pointed criticisms of the Astros and Osuna against a backdrop of non-responsiveness with other teamā€™s players makes it look like she was pushing an agenda that may have been informed by personal animus towards Luhnow and Taubman.

Wasnā€™t Footer directly targeted by Taubman in his post ALCS bullshit? If so I think sheā€™s more than entitled to strong opinions about him. Also, I doubt sheā€™s as non-responsive to non-Osuna scumbags as youā€™re making out. And even though sheā€™s a MLB-wide reporter the Astros will always be her beat. If you think tweeting the national domestic abuse hotline number whenever Osuna was called from the pen is unfair criticism, Iā€™d love to watch you sit down and hear what she really thinks about the issues.

I think Footer was standing next to/with the (SI?) reporter who Taubman directed his comments to, and whose statement the team then falsely refuted.

Fucking Taubman.

No, it wasnā€™t targeted at Footer, but one of her friends. Taubman is an ass/douche. I havenā€™t seen her sharing much if any disdain towards the Dodgers, Yankees, etc. on the support for ending domestic violence.

And Iā€™m more than happy to sit down with Footer.

No, it was directed at Footer from everything I read. Taubman idiotically got drunk and went after her because of her season-long tweeting of the domestic violence hotline number every time Osuna pitched and did it with SIā€™s Stephanie Apstein standing right next to her.

Not defending Taubman at all, he deserves all the scorn thrown his way.

Hereā€™s the addendum to the CBA that covers MLBā€™s procedures in cases like this, if anyoneā€™s interested:

This is why I thought it was her friend.

Taubman is said to have yelled ā€œThank God we got Osuna! Iā€™m so [expletive] glad we got Osuna!ā€ Taubmanā€™s acts were originally chronicled by Sports Illustrated reporter Stephanie Apstein.

Not defending Luhnow, Taunton, Osuna, the Astros or anyone else involved. But when you bring attention to one team or one player and ignore every other team or player that does the same thingā€¦ maybe it was more about the Astros and less about domestic violence than she would have you to believe.

Unrelated but olā€™ Dickie Justice is on twitter again today shilling Andy Martinoā€™s book and begging to get ratioā€™d by dragging the 2018 Astros.

Justice is still employed? The universe is full of wonders.
