According to Weaver’s article, folks were pretty split on the topic of what constitutes striking out the side. Someone said if you face the minimum and strike out all three of them, that’s merely striking out the side in order. Someone else opined that “side” refers to all of the batters in the inning - i.e. anything more than three batters isn’t striking out the side.
More I think about it, more agnostic I am. Just didn’t realize opinion was this divided.
I say most of the (wrong) things in this thread. But, I just recently figured out went to hit the cut off man or in what situations to lay off the slider so I am a bit of a novice.
How the hell would you figure out how to lay off a slider by watching the Astros?

Striking out the side means none of the three possible outs are recorded in a way other than strike out. It doesn’t matter if the pitcher gives up a million runs. Striking out the side in order is awesome and everyone knows it, but striking out the side in and of itself need not connote that a pitcher had a dominant inning, it need only denote the style of outs recorded.

You’re telling me a 2-seamer has glove-side run? Like a screwball? This I feel I have never seen, sir. Indeed sir I feel more often I am seeing glove-side run from the 2-seamer.
