Am I reading this right? Yasmani Grandal has a .160 BA and a .400 OBP? And a .429 SLG? that’s got to be some kind of record. Of his meager 19 hits, 10 are HR?
Yes you are, and yes it is.
Wow. Just wow. That’s some kind of plate discipline.
CHEATING PITCHERS!!!
BAN THE SHIFT!!
WON’T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!
Can you imagine some little leaguer saying I want to be like Yasmani Grandal!? I want to walk and hit home runs!
Plenty of people around DFW love Joey Gallo which is basically the same thing
Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer left his home start Friday night against the San Francisco Giants after throwing just 12 pitches due to a right groin injury.
Jacob deGrom left the game after six shutout innings, just 80 pitches and a consultation with Mets pitching coach Jeremy Hefner. The team announced that he departed with right flexor tendinitis.
deGrom has been tetchy for the past month or so, but he isn’t expecting to miss any time.
He is off to the most dominant start of any pitcher in modern history. It isn’t quite on par with Pedro in 1998 / 99 in my opinion, given the state of offense, but he is truly a ludicrous beast. Gary Cohn noted last night how insane their expectations are, as he felt deGrom’s fastball, which was averaging about 99, was “down a tick.”
DeGrom still has more RBI than runs allowed
98/99 isn’t “modern history” in your world?
At least it wasn’t “discomfort”.
There weren’t even any iphones back then.
Earned runs
I was going back to Bob Gibson. It is statistically the most dominant. I’m just saying, subjectively, Pedro, 98, 99, etc.
I’ll stick with Pedro’s 99-00 performance given the run scoring environment of the time.
That would make sense.
So whether fouled off or missed, a pitch that is out of the zone has been effectively wasted: it could have been a (possible) ball call - depending on the ump…
Fantastic photo of Babe Ruth in June '48. He died 2 months later:
With the baseball nobly re-purifying the game, does Biggio get a redo on all those sliders he missed?
Reparations must be made.
