$55 million to fix up the Trop’s hurricane damage, which may not happen.
I don’t know what the plan is for next year, but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t extend that to a two- or three-year deal and get cracking on the new stadium instead of essentially throwing away $55 million. Maybe the Trop also gets used for other things that aren’t as easily accommodated elsewhere?
While I don’t know anything more than most who read a lot about this, I think that’s the tack the city/county will take. Whatever deal they make with the minor league park [coughphilliescough] will be a 3 season deal.
I do think it’s used for storage of industrial scaffolding during much of the year.
Looks like it will be Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. It’s about 2.5 miles from my house so that’s nice.
And when the Rays set attendance records on that side of the Bay, MLB is gonna pucker.
Attendance records in a stadium that holds 10,000 people.
Their average attendance was 16,515 last year so they won’t be too far off.
Wonder if they’ll throw in Montreal “home” games.
Hell, they could use the Astrodome.
