I remember when Geronimo Peña came up with the Cardinals. He was, much like his son, a physical specimen, though a bit leaner. There was hope he’d replace Jose Oquendo as their everyday second baseman. Instead Herzog preferred to platoon him with Oquendo even though both were switch hitters .

My first 2 yrs at SWA were based in Oakland. I caught a few Astros-A’s games at The Coliseum and that proposed Howard Terminal site had so many locals excited. Then, of course, they got shit on.
Fucking abject greed.
The A’s fans and Oakland deserved better.
