Damn! I got 3 of these 3-packs 7-8 years ago for $75/ea.
To offset the additional time that more offense adds to a game, perhaps they would then need to save time on the home run trot. Hit a dinger, flip your bat, step on home plate, stroll into the welcoming arms of your teammates, get your ass into the dugout.
How fun!
Glad they werenât chicken to invest in that.
$5k a year? Thatâs amateur hour. Iâll spend that in month on wine.
What about wine and hookers?
Asking for a relative.
âBrandt canât watch. Or he has to pay $100.â
Wait, wrong thread.
Interesting look at the Oriolesâ hitting development strategy from a drafting, coaching, and training perspective. In short:
- Draft for exit velocity
- Draft and develop vertical bat angle (lift the ball)
- Train with weighted bats
- Train with short-box batting practice (thrown by young coaches with real stuff)
- Build culture of work ethic
This is pretty cool. Bonds and Maddux break down an at bat against each other:
Apologies if Cabreraâd. Itâs been making the rounds for a day or so.
- be shitty for 5 years and stockpile top draft picks.
Sure, but there have been lots of suck-dynasties who didnât end up having the development success the Orioles (or Astros before them) have had.
Sure and the Orioles arenât the only team that drafts for exit velocityâŚEt al. I think intentional positioning for higher draft picks was as critical a component and any other.
I think thatâs a bit simplistic. Uninformed people said that about the Astros too, which we all know is simply not true. It helps, of course but thereâs a lot more to it.
I went by Gordy & Sons today to pick up some fly-tying materials, and they had this excellent new reel from Abel in stock. I thought one of you would want it. Thatâs the 8 weight, which lists for $1,950. They also had a 5 weight for trout, which is $1,750. Itâs a pretty good deal, because it comes with nippers in addition to the reel. My guess is theyâd also throw in free backing, but youâll need your own fly line.
It is pretty well done, and itâs cheaper than a travel team.
I said it was a critical component. Do you disagree with that? Of course there an innumerable factors involved in building a winning team. Nothing simplistic about that.
That is so incredibly pimp
Well the nippers make it a no brainer.
Agent Hinch has his Tigers up 4-0 over Yankers after two. Mariners and Pirates tied 1-1 after three.
The Pirates broadcast has no commercial breaks today. Itâs weird and wonderful and I canât explain it.
ETA: aaaaaand so much for that. But it lasted at least three innings and two mid-inning pitching changes.
Arrozarena is having himself a game: 0-5 5Ks, misplayed a ball in the OF that led to runs
