Bullpen/rotation please.

Neris did not want to stay?

He may want to stay, but I imagine he wants to get paid, too. I guess we’ll find out how much Brown values his contributions.

He can get more, money or years, or both

Not what I asked, but ok.

I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t want to stay, it’s that he wants a new contract.

I imagine that he looks at the Montero contract and thinks “that should be me”.

I hope he actually does want to stay and they can work out a reasonable deal. He’s earned it.

He came into a lot of tough situations and delivered.

He was due $8.5 million had he not opted out. I imagine he is looking for $11 to $13 million for two or three years. He was the best 7th inning man in MLB last year.

The two or three years is probably the key thing. He’s entering his age 35 season, this is probably his last chance at any kind of a multi-year deal.

Volpe got the GG at short? On the surface at least, that doesn’t seem right. Now I’ll have to go research it a bit.

Stephen Vogt named new Guardians manager.

Mets hiring Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza to replace Showalter.

And reports are Counsell is going to “a team that already has a manager,” so presumably someone like Boone or Roberts is on the phone right now getting the ax.

Update: Rosenthal says it’s the Cubs. So long, David Ross.

Wow, that surprises me. I hadn’t heard that Ross was on the hot seat.

Counsell is another red ass.

Glad he’s almost officially off the list.
